OBJECTIVE: To measure associations among depression, sexual risk behaviors, and sexually transmitted infection (STI) among white and black youth in the United States.
DESIGN: Analysis of prospective cohort study data. Wave I of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health occurred in 1995 when participants were in grades 7 through 12. Six years later, all Wave I participants who could be located were invited to participate in Wave III and to provide a urine specimen for STI testing.

The determinants for the disproportionate burden of pancreatic cancer in Native Hawaiians are unclear. To elucidate this disparity, we evaluated risk factor profiles and pancreatic cancer incidence in 13,641 Native Hawaiians and 47,240 Whites from the Multiethnic Cohort Study. A cohort of 7,591 middle-aged Hawaiian-Japanese men free at initial examination of evidence of coronary heart disease or stroke were followed starting in 1965. Despite nationwide immunization programs, rubella infections during pregnancy continue. To solve this serious health problem direct immunization of women of reproductive age may be required. On a clinic basis, using nonphysician personnel, we vaccinated 404 susceptible women, ages 18 to 33; half were sexually active. METHODS: The study included 2309 Japanese-American men ages 71 to 93 y. Mortality data were available for up to 24 y of follow-up.
