The authors discuss the results from roentgenological (cervical hysterography) examination of the uterine cavity, aiming to confirm the results from the treatment of intrauterine synechiae. It was established that there were no roentgenological data for synechiae after the conducted treatment in 73.9% of the examined hysterograms. The treatment had no substantial effect only in 8.7% of women as synechiae remained unchanged. Congenital uterovaginal anomalies can have adverse effects on pregnancy outcome. Early diagnosis and an aggressive evaluation of any patient presenting with mid-trimester abortion, premature labor, malpresentation, or retained placenta may prevent additional pregnancy wastage and maternal morbidity. With more timely and accurate diagnosis, appropriate management is likely to provide the best possible outcome for all such patients.

A retrospective study was undertaken to evaluate the radiologic appearance of salpingitis isthmica nodosa (SIN) in the fallopian tubes of 150 consecutive patients having hysterosalpingograms performed almost exclusively for primary and secondary infertility. SIN was observed in 13 of these 150 patients. Partial atresia of the fallopian tube was discovered in two patients with double uteri of the bicornuate variety. The abnormal tube in each case was ipsilateral to a noncommunicating, nonfunctioning, rudimentary uterine horn. A normal fimbriated end led to a short, patent ampullary portion that ended blindly in the mesosalpinx. Realization of the potential for the coexistence of congenital malformation of the fallopian tubes with various uterine malformations suggests that extreme caution be exercised during adnexal surgery in patients with anomalous development of the müllerian ducts.
