Agreeing that maps can disagree: Moving away from map confusion in conservation.

Deciding where to implement actions for biodiversity conservation remains challenging for many reasons, including the increase in maps aimed at prioritizing locations for conservation efforts. Although a growing numbers of maps can create the perception of uncertainty and competing science, a shared set of principles underlie many mapping initiatives. We overlaid the priority areas identified by a subset of maps to assess the extent to which they agree. The comparison suggests that when maps are used without understanding their origin, confusion seems justified: The union of all maps covers 73

Replacing immunisation-dependent antibody reagent production: Challenges under the UK Replacing Animals in Science 2025 strategy.

The UK's 2025 Replacing Animals in Science strategy introduces a commitment to end polyclonal antibody reagent production by 2030. While this represents a significant milestone, focusing exclusively on polyclonal reagents raises scientific, ethical and implementation challenges, given that monoclonal and other recombinant antibody formats frequently remain dependent on animal immunisation. This study examines whether current UK licensing practice and reporting frameworks are positioned to deliver genuine replacement. A structured, Three Rs-aligned replacement framework is articulated, reflecti

Artificial intelligence in perioperative pain: a scoping review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Perioperative pain is a major determinant of patients' experience and may influence long-term outcomes. Artificial intelligence (AI) is applied to perioperative datasets to predict acute postoperative pain, opioid requirements, analgesic-related adverse events, chronic postsurgical pain and pain trajectories. However, the evidence is dispersed across perioperative phases, clinical outcomes, data modalities and AI methodologies, while the extent to which current models address validation, interpretability, uncertainty and clinical implementation remains unclear. This scoping revie

Towards a science of global health delivery: A socio-anthropological framework to improve the effectiveness of neglected tropical disease interventions.

BACKGROUND: Over the last decade, implementation research and a science of global health delivery have emerged as important vehicles to improve the effectiveness of interventions. Efforts to control neglected tropical diseases (NTD) operate in challenging circumstances and with marginalized populations, making attention to context-specific details particularly relevant. Socio-anthropological insights have much to offer a science of NTD delivery. In this paper, an accessible and actionable framework for understanding NTD intervention effectiveness, based on socio-anthropological research, is pr

Psychometric Considerations and Age Appropriateness of Outcome Measures Implemented in Exercise Randomized Controlled Trials Within the Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Cohort: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is an autoimmune condition of multifactorial etiology resulting in chronic inflammatory joint disease, which may be associated with systemic manifestations. Therapeutic exercise is essential to counteract physical impairments, which requires the implementation of outcome measures (OMs) in research and practice as they provide meaningful results for research efficacy, exercise program evaluation and quality, medication tolerance, and patient improvement. PURPOSE: To assess the types of OMs implemented in exercise randomized controlled trials related to

A Scoping Review of Interventional Radiology Curricula for Medical Students and Correlation with Kern's Six-Step Framework for Curriculum Development.

Interventional radiology (IR) plays an increasingly important role in modern healthcare; however, its integration into undergraduate medical education remains inconsistent. This scoping review evaluated IR teaching for medical students against Kern's six-step framework. A search of PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library databases, through July 2026, identified 36 studies examining IR exposure, teaching strategies, and educational outcomes. IR teaching is consistently underrepresented. Educational interventions included didactic teaching, case-based learning, and digital platf

Using communities that care for community child maltreatment prevention.

The prevention of mental, emotional, and behavioral (MEB) disorders among children and adolescents is a national priority. One mode of implementing community-wide MEB prevention efforts is through evidence-based community mobilization approaches such as Communities That Care (CTC). This article provides an overview of the CTC framework and discusses the adaptation process of CTC to prevent development of MEBs through preventing child abuse and neglect and bolstering child well-being in children aged 0 to 10. Adaptations include those to the intervention itself as well as those to the evaluatio

Methodologies and methods for the development, evaluation and implementation of psychosocial interventions for dementia: protocol for a scoping review.

INTRODUCTION: Research on psychosocial interventions for dementia demonstrates increased rigour and robustness. However, if we are to influence practice, beyond results from randomised controlled trials, a variety of types and sources of evidence is needed. The Medical Research Council (MRC) framework offers a valuable guide for developing, evaluating and implementing complex interventions, to facilitate integration of research into practice. There is limited knowledge of how researchers design, evaluate and implement psychosocial intervention studies in dementia, using the MRC framework. This

Situation analysis of urogenital bilharzia in West Africa (2010-2021) and control strategies and prospects: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Schistosomes are parasitic diseases caused by flatworms (schistosomes or bilharzia), transmitted in the urine or in the faeces, and involving intermediate hosts (freshwater molluscs). Their recrudescence in endemic areas is no longer in question and remains a crucial public health problem in the world in general and in West Africa in particular. In order to eradicate bilharzia, many control strategies and policies have been implemented on both sides. The objective of this systematic literature review is to synthesize the existing evidence on control strategies implemented by West African count

How Do Social and Behavioral Change Interventions Respond to Social Norms to Improve Women's Diets in Low- and Middle-Income Countries? A Scoping Review.

Healthy dietary practices are highly influenced by social norms, the widely-held expectations about the behaviors that are appropriate or typical within a given group. However, many nutrition programs designed to reduce women's undernutrition in low- and middle-income countries do not address the influence of social and gender norms in their interventions, and therefore, there is limited information about how norms-responsive interventions have been designed and implemented. The objective of this scoping review was to identify and describe social and behavioral change interventions designed to
