Fifteen tibial nonunions, ranging nine months to 19 years after original injury, were treated with the Brooker intramedullary nail (IMN). The average number of previous failed surgeries was two. The fracture location ranged from several centimeters below the tubercle to 3 cm above the plafond. Twelve of 15 had bone grafting, and all 15 had fibular osteotomy at the time of the IMN procedure. We reviewed 19 patients treated for upper arm fractures using Seidel's locking nail system, which allows for early function after operation. The overall results were good with no cases of pseudarthrosis, infection or radial nerve palsy. All the patients regained full shoulder movements with no evidence of rotator cuff lesions.

The Yellow Nail syndrome is an unusual lymphangitic disorder classically characterized by the presence of nail discoloration, lymphedema and pleural effusion. Since the recognition of the significance of these associated physical findings, four cases have been diagnosed at our institution in the last six years. The most common cause of nail bed deformity is trauma, but other causes are infection, tumor, ischemia, or congenital anomalies. This article includes discussions of nonadherence, split nail, reconstruction of the eponychium, crooked and hooked nail, bony irregularity, pachyonychia, ischemic deformities, and absence of the nail. New problems are encountered daily and other deformities have no method of correction recorded in the literature. For these cases, we provide suggested treatments based on the anatomy and physiology of the nail.

Two cases of lepromatous leprosy with erythema nodosum leprosum who were on high doses of clofazimine, showed discoloration of nail plate, subungual hyperkeratosis and onycholysis. These nail changes gradually disappeared when the dose of clofazimine was reduced.
