A 57-year-old man presented with a posterior fossa hemangioblastoma associated with primary hyperparathyroidism. The hemangioblastoma was completely removed. Further imaging found parathyroid and thyroid tumors which were resected. Hyperparathyroidism might be a manifestation of von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease, but sequencing of the VHL gene of the constitutional deoxyribonucleic acid of the hemangioblastoma was negative. The present association is rare, but the hemangioblastoma and the parathyroid adenoma may have some germ-line mutation in common.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate risk factors for urethral involvement in female patients undergoing cystectomy for bladder cancer and to define potential candidates for orthotopic continent urinary diversion.
METHODS: From 1990 to 1996, 43 female patients underwent cystectomy for primary bladder malignancy. Bladder mapping studies were performed with special attention to tumor location, multifocality, pathologic stage and grade, presence of carcinoma in situ (CIS), and the relationship of these factors to urethral involvement.
RESULTS: Of the 43 patients evaluated, 7 (16.3%) had urethral involvement

We report a case of triple primary intracranial tumors of different histologic types: meningioma, astrocytoma, and pituitary adenoma. Von Recklinghausen's disease or other etiologic factors supposedly associated with multiple primary brain tumors were not recognized in this 64-year-old female patient. Triple primary brain tumors with no association of von Recklinghausen's disease are rare--there is only one reported case with histologic studies.

The probability of metastasis has been found to correlate closely with increasing cancer volume. Rare cases of multiple haemangioendothelioma of the liver were seen in a boy 2 and a half months old and a girl aged 3 and a half years. More foci--in the skin in case No. 1, and in the spleen in the other case--were rated as part of the multiplicity not as metastases. Death was caused by cardiac failure due to arteriovenous shunt in the tumour.

BACKGROUND: Primary adenocarcinoma of the larynx is a rare neoplasm. The incidence is reported as less than 1% of all laryngeal neoplasms in multiple series. Simultaneous primary adenocarcinoma and a solitary squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx is even rarer and only one case has been found on review of the literature.

BACKGROUND: Extramedullary plasmacytoma is an uncommon tumor that most often involves the nasopharynx or upper respiratory tract. Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a type of plasma cell neoplasm that can present as a primary tumor or secondary to another plasma cell neoplasm, such as multiple myeloma.
