Cystic meningiomas are not commonly encountered and are said to account for only 1 to 2% of all types of meningioma. There have been several reports on them and most of them were discussed under the aspect of the mechanism of cystic formation. Though few reports present the process of cystic formation, here we were able to present the process of cystic formation with intratumoral hemorrhage. Attachment of G-actin to a myosin head was for the first time visualized by electron microscopy of heavy meromyosin (HMM) molecules decorated using a chemical crosslinker with G-actin, which is made resistant to salt- and myosin-induced polymerization by treatment with m-maleimidobenzoic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (MBS). Rotary-shadowed images of acto-HMM molecules crosslinked using MBS or water-soluble carbodiimide showed that MBS-G-actin binds to the distal half of a myosin head (the region 14-15 nm away from the head-rod junction).

An epidemiological survey of childhood polyarteritis nodosa was conducted at 1290 hospitals followed by a secondary survey of hospitals that had therapeutic experience with the disease. OBJECTIVE: To investigate a method of cataract operation capable of recovering normal visual acuity rapidly at early postoperative stage.

The clinical features of 68 Japanese patients (53 men and 15 women; mean age 44 years) with primary pulmonary alveolar proteinosis were reviewed. Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis was diagnosed from histologic findings after open lung biopsy (n = 7) or transbronchial lung biopsy (n = 61). We have adopted an approach to the management of myelodysplasia patients which is contrary to that most commonly supported by the existing literature.
