Loneliness Among Older Adults Receiving Home Care: A Phenomenological-Hermeneutical Study.

Background/Objectives: Norway's ageing population includes many older adults living alone who receive home care and are at increased risk of loneliness. Loneliness is the subjective sense of unmet or imbalanced social needs, shaped by culture and living conditions, and can be social (lack of contact) or emotional (absence of close, trusting relationships). In older people, it often follows partner or role loss or reduced mobility or participation and is associated with emotional pain, lowered self-worth and poorer health and quality of life. This study aimed to explore patients' experiences of

Identifying Palliative Care Consultation Outcomes in Nursing Homes: Insights from Key Partners.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Palliative care (PC) consultation outcomes in nursing homes (NHs) are often assessed using health systems' clinical and utilization metrics rather than outcomes from the perspective of the key partners who provide and sustain it. This study was designed to identify meaningful PC consultation outcomes from the perspectives of NH staff, PC consultants, and NH/PC agency directors. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the team conducted semi-structured interviews with key partners from 14 NHs in the Eastern United States. Interviews wer

Contextual Determinants of Clinical Pharmacists' Contributions to Team-Based Antimicrobial Stewardship in Jordanian Hospitals: A Realist-Informed Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Clinical pharmacists contribute pharmacotherapy expertise to antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), but antimicrobial prescribing remains a multidisciplinary process led by treating clinicians. In physician-centered hospital systems, pharmacists' contributions may be integrated into prescribing decisions to varying degrees depending on the organizational structures, interprofessional relationships, workflow integration, and prescribing cultures. This study aimed to explore how contextual and interprofessional factors shape the integration of clinical pharmacists' antimicrobial

Diagnosing malnutrition in patients on dialysis using the global leadership initiative on malnutrition (GLIM) criteria: bridging the gap between theoretical consensus and real-world applicability.

OBJECTIVES: The Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) is a framework for diagnosing malnutrition. The applicability of GLIM in patients receiving dialysis remains insufficiently explored. This study aimed to identify the most prevalent phenotypic criteria, assess whether dialysis per se can be used as the sole etiological criterion, and evaluate dietitians' perceptions of GLIM's feasibility in clinical practice. METHODS: In this exploratory mix-method study, adult patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD) were recruited from six Swedish dialysis centers.

Distribution and associated factors of psychological dimensions related to antimicrobial resistance countermeasures among hospital staff in Japan: an exploratory cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Research on antimicrobial resistance countermeasures primarily relies on the knowledge-attitude-practice (KAP) framework. However, knowledge gains do not reliably translate into behavioural change, and psychological dimensions beyond knowledge remain insufficiently characterized when considered concurrently within a single population. OBJECTIVES: To characterize four antimicrobial resistance-related psychological dimensions-risk perception, self-efficacy, sense of responsibility and attitude-among hospital staff and examine how they vary according to occupational and organizationa

Exploration of interprofessional collaboration for the diagnosis of infections and antibiotic prescription in nursing homes using multiple case study observational research.

BACKGROUND: Antibiotic resistance in nursing homes (NHs) is inconsistently tackled by antimicrobial stewardship programmes. The literature on individual determinants of antibiotic prescriptions (APs) in NHs is extensive. However, less is known about the structural determinants of AP in NHs. OBJECTIVES: To examine how different organizational contexts influenced interprofessional collaboration in the diagnosis and treatment of infections in NHs. METHODS: We conducted multiple case study observational research through field notes and sketches from pictures of NH layouts. RESULTS: We observed

Improving Postoperative Pediatric Recovery by Efficient Recovery Room Care-A Comprehensive Review.

Background/Objectives: Efficient postoperative recovery room care in pediatric patients is crucial for optimizing perioperative safety, patient outcome, and effective pain management. However, this area is frequently underemphasized, leading to higher complication rates compared to the operating room, which in turn increases healthcare costs. Improving pediatric recovery room care offers a significant opportunity to enhance the quality and safety of perioperative pediatric care. From an economic perspective, this is prudent; however, more importantly, every child has the right to the highest a
