Harm reduction via online platforms for people who use drugs in Russia: a qualitative analysis of web outreach work.

BACKGROUND: Harm reduction services to people who use drugs (PWUD) in Russia are insufficient in terms of quantity, government endorsement, and accessibility. The situation has recently deteriorated even further because of social distancing measures of the COVID-19 pandemic. Several organizations have started to provide some harm reduction services via online platforms by web outreach. However, little is known on how online outreach services are organized and implemented. Drawing on the example of St. Petersburg-based NGO "Humanitarian Action," we explored web outreach work in Telegram instant

The Space Between Action and Reflection: Nursing Students' Experiences of Debriefing Timing.

INTRODUCTION: Debriefing is widely regarded as a central component of simulation-based learning, yet limited attention has been given to how the timing of debriefing is experienced by learners in undergraduate courses that include graded simulation. METHODS: An interpretive qualitative study situated within a constructivist epistemological perspective was conducted. Semi-structured interviews were completed with 10 third-year undergraduate nursing students enrolled in a course that included simulation-based learning. Interviews explored participants' experiences of simulation, perceptions of

Functional brain connectivity from the fetal period through infancy: A narrative review of resting-state fMRI studies.

The interval from the fetal period through infancy is critical for the formation and reorganization of large-scale functional brain networks. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) requires no task performance and provides a means of characterizing whole-brain functional organization during this interval. This narrative review synthesizes human rs-fMRI evidence on typical functional network development, prematurity-related differences, associations with maternal and early caregiving environments, and links between early functional connectivity and subsequent neurodevelop

Feasibility and Impact of a Multidisciplinary Lifestyle Intervention Among Overweight and Obese Childhood Cancer Survivors in a Low- and Middle-Income Setting.

BACKGROUND: Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) are at increased risk of obesity and related cardiometabolic complications. Evidence for multidisciplinary (MD) lifestyle interventions in CCS, particularly from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), remains limited, and long-term adherence is poorly understood. METHODS: We conducted a prospective single-arm interventional study among overweight and obese CCS attending a survivorship clinic at a tertiary cancer centre between January 2021 and June 2022. Participants received a structured MD intervention including dietary counselling, physical a

Understanding the Unfamiliar: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of Pediatric Residents' Learning about Children with Severe Motor and Intellectual Disabilities.

INTRODUCTION: Children with severe motor and intellectual disabilities (SMIDs) require complex care involving both technical skill and emotional presence. Pediatric residents often lack meaningful exposure to such patients, and little is known about how they make sense of these learning experiences. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative study using an interpretative phenomenological analysis to explore how pediatric residents experienced a three-month rotation at a facility for children with SMID in Japan. Four residents were interviewed twice during their rotations. Interviews were transcribed

A single session of sensorimotor rhythm neurofeedback enhances long-game performance in professional golfers.

Enhanced Sensorimotor Rhythm activity has been linked to increased automation in motor execution. Although existing research demonstrates the positive effects of SMR neurofeedback training on improving golf putting performance, its influence on golf long-game performance remains unexplored. This study sought to address this gap by involving seventeen professional female golfers (Age =24.63 ± 3.24 years, Handicap=2.06 ± 1.18) in a crossover-designed experiment incorporating both NFT and a no-training control condition. During the study, participants executed 40 150-yard swings while receiving c

Social Functioning in Individuals Affected by Childhood Maltreatment: Establishing a Research Agenda to Inform Interventions.

Childhood maltreatment (CM) is linked to impairments in various domains of social functioning. Here, we argue that it is critical to identify factors that underlie impaired social functioning as well as processes that mediate the beneficial health effects of positive relationships in individuals exposed to CM. Key research recommendations are presented, focusing on: (1) identifying attachment-related alterations in specific inter- and intrapersonal processes (e.g., regulation of closeness and distance) that underlie problems in broader domains of social functioning (e.g., lack of perceived soc

Nipple-sparing mastectomy in modern breast practice.

Breast cancer management has evolved from the conventional radical Halsted to a fully integrated multidisciplinary approach. Nipple sparing mastectomy (NSM) is an innovative technique that preserves native breast envelope without mutilation of nipple-areola complex (NAC), thus providing a reasonable alternative for early cancers without NAC involvement and prophylactic high risk patients and avoids multiple surgical procedures required for reconstruction. This article aims to critically review indications, intra-operative protocols, radiotherapy planning and limitations of NSM. Patient selecti

Three-Dimensional Concept in Simultaneous Periareolar Augmentation-Mastopexy.

BACKGROUND: Breast ptosis commonly arises from tissue laxity associated with aging, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or lactation, often accompanied by upper-pole volume depletion. Post-lactational atrophy further exacerbates ptosis, causing physical and psychological distress. Traditional mastopexy techniques typically focus on vertical tightening and may insufficiently address horizontal glandular laxity. This study evaluates a three-dimensional (3D) conceptual approach for simultaneous augmentation-mastopexy via a circumareolar incision, aiming to correct mild-to-moderate breast ptosis and r
