Life satisfaction in individuals with premenstrual syndrome: Scale development and evaluation of psychometric properties.

BACKGROUND: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is characterized by various physiological and psychological symptoms occurring in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, which may negatively affect women's life satisfaction. Existing general life satisfaction scales are insufficient to assess the impact of PMS-specific multidimensional and cyclical symptoms. This study aimed to develop a valid and reliable life satisfaction scale specific to PMS and to identify the individual and environmental factors that influence this satisfaction. METHODS: This methodological and cross-sectional study was conduc

Development and psychometric evaluation of the Polish version of the Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire (CPAQ).

BACKGROUND: Chronic pain remains a significant health concern, particularly among older adults. Pain acceptance - engaging in valued activities despite pain without attempting to control or avoid it - is thought to buffer against the negative psychosocial impacts of chronic pain. OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to adapt to Polish and evaluate the psychometric properties of a widely used measure of pain acceptance, namely the Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire (CPAQ). METHODS: Two samples of individuals with chronic pain participated: an online sample (N = 418) and a hospital-recruited

Psychometric evaluation and community norms of the GAD-7, based on a representative German sample.

INTRODUCTION: The Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale is widely used to assess generalized anxiety symptoms in both clinical and general populations. However, updated psychometric evaluations and population norms for the German adult population are lacking. This study aims to examine the psychometric properties of the GAD-7 and provide representative population norms. METHODS: A representative sample of the adult population in Germany (N = 2,519) was assessed. Item characteristics (means, standard deviations, inter-item correlations) were examined. Construct validity was evaluated th

Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Version of the Screen for Cognitive Impairment in Psychiatry (SCIP-TR).

INTRODUCTION: Given the critical significance of cognitive functions in daily life and social interactions, the Screen for Cognitive Impairment in Psychiatry (SCIP) scale is particularly important in clinical practice. It can be administered quickly and offers alternative forms, avoiding issues with lengthy administration or a lack of parallel forms. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the SCIP scale (SCIP-TR), which enables rapid and practical assessment of cognitive impairment in psychiatric settings. METHODS: This study involved 137 healthy students an

Psychometric testing of two measures of vaccination attitudes among U.S. Latine respondents.

BACKGROUND: Although attitudes toward vaccination predict vaccination engagement, widely used measures of vaccination attitudes are untested and unvalidated among diverse populations. Latine communities experience disproportionately poor COVID-19 and other communicable disease outcomes. The objective of this study is to test psychometric properties of widely used vaccine hesitancy and vaccine acceptance measures among diverse U.S. Latine populations. METHODS: We conducted a psychometric meta-analysis of 13,406 Latine survey participants between 2021 and 2023 from 10 U.S. Rapid Diagnostics for

Development and Validation of a Psychometric Tool for Disability Assessment in Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder.

BACKGROUND: Individuals with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD) often demonstrate disproportionately poor speech understanding in noise relative to their pure-tone thresholds. Conventional disability assessments based on pure-tone averages (PTAs) fail to capture these functional limitations, leading to an underestimation of disability. This study aimed to develop and validate the Auditory Neuropathy Perceived Disability Questionnaire (ANPDQ), a condition-specific psychometric tool that assesses functional disability in ANSD. METHOD: The study involved 116 individuals aged ≥ 15 years

The psychometric status of child language assessment tools in South Africa's official languages.

Despite advancements in recognising the importance of early child language development and linguistic diversity in South Africa, culturally and linguistically appropriate assessment tools remain unevenly distributed across the official languages, posing considerable challenges for researchers and speech-language therapists. This study critically reviews the psychometric status of child language assessment tools in South Africa's official languages. The current state of tool development is analysed, evaluating language assessment tools available for clinical and research purposes in each langua

Psychometric evaluation of the self-undermining scale in South Africa using the Rasch model.

UNLABELLED: The self-undermining scale is used to assess employee behaviours that undermine job performance, including making mistakes, creating conflict, creating confusion and creating a backlog in work tasks. To date, its psychometric properties have not been thoroughly investigated using item-response theory applications, especially in South Africa. Applying the Rasch Rating Scale Model, this study aimed to investigate the reliability and internal validity of the self-undermining scale, including item fit and rating scale functionality. Data were collected from 318 South African employees

Psychometric Validation of the Chinese Version of Gambling Symptom Assessment Scale (C-GSAS).

Reliable tools for assessing gambling symptom severity in gambling disorder (GD) are critical for both research and clinical intervention. The Gambling Symptom Assessment Scale (GSAS) is widely used but lacks validation in Chinese-speaking populations. Our study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of GSAS (C-GSAS) among 186 treatment-seeking GD patients. Internal consistency was excellent (Cronbach's α = 0.93), and exploratory factor analysis revealed a two-factor model: Cognitive-Preparatory and Emotional-Consequential Factors. Confirmatory factor analysis sup

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Complex Trauma and Strengths Questionnaire: psychometric evaluation.

OBJECTIVE: Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (complex trauma) describes a cluster of symptoms frequently associated with prolonged exposure to inescapable threats or abuse. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia impacted by complex trauma, there may be compounding factors, such as experiences of historical trauma, loss and socio-economic deprivation stemming from colonisation. However, there is no culturally appropriate tool to assess complex trauma. This paper presents the psychometric evaluation of a preliminary version Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Compl
