Stability constants of two DTPA (diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid) complexes with lanthanides (ML(2-) and MHL(-), where M stands for Nd and Eu and L stands for diethylenetriaminepentaacetate) at 10, 25, 40, 55, and 70 °C were determined by potentiometry, absorption spectrophotometry, and luminescence spectroscopy. Visual pigment extracts prepared from rhabdomeric membranes of vitamin A deficient blowflies contain a 5-10 times lower concentration of rhodopsin than extracts from flies which were raised on a vitamin A rich diet. BACKGROUND/AIMS: It has been thought that intrahepatic stones are brown pigment stones (bilirubin carbonate stones) but we analyzed a chemical compound to reveal that intrahepatic stones have unique components, and studied their pathogenesis.
METHODOLOGY: A total of 45 gallbladder stones (15 cholesterol stones, 15 black pigment stones, and 15 brown pigment stones) and 15 intrahepatic stones were analyzed about amounts of fatty acids, bile acids and trace elements in the gallstones. Thus we established the characteristic components of the intrahepatic stones and studied their pathogenesis.

The 1:1 Zn(NO3)2.4H2O/(py)2CO reaction system in EtOH gives [Zn2(NO3)2{(py)2C(OEt)O}2].0.5H2O (1.0.5H2O), whereas the same reaction system in MeCN yields [Zn4(NO3)3{(py)2C(OH)O}4(H2O)](NO3) (2). A rapid assay was developed for diethylpropion hydrochloride tablets using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection. This technique provided separation of the drug from other UV-absorbing components present as the result of decomposition.
