Phase-Locked Time-Stretch Optical Coherence Tomography for Contrast-Enhanced Retinal Microangiography.

Optical coherence tomography angiography has transformed retinal vascular imaging by providing non-invasive, high-resolution visualization. However, achieving an optimal balance between field of view, resolution, and three-dimensional microvasculature contrast, particularly in deeper retinal layers, remains challenging. A phase-locked time-stretch optical coherence tomography microangiography system is developed to address these limitations with a 5-MHz A-line rate and sub-nm phase sensitivity. Utilizing a dual chirped fiber Bragg grating architecture, the swept-source laser achieves an extend

Keratoconus diagnosis based on macro-micro corneal characteristics via optical coherence tomography.

Keratoconus is an ophthalmopathy characterized by a central thinning that commonly causes irregular astigmatism and high myopia. However, the diagnostic standards of keratoconus have not yet been well established clinically and mainly rely on macro characteristics measured through corneal topography. To describe the micro changes conveyed by collagen microstructures in the corneal stroma and provide a new insight for keratoconus, we developed a quantitative diagnostic method combining macro-micro information via in vivo optical coherence tomography (OCT). A comparison experiment was designed t

Single-shot full-field optical coherence tomography with a single polarization camera.

We present a novel implementation technique of single-shot full-field optical coherence tomography (S-FF-OCT) by utilizing a single-sensor polarization camera. S-FF-OCT is capable of acquiring interference image information in a single camera capture with a short signal integration time, which makes it particularly advantageous for tomographic imaging of fast-moving objects or samples under environmental vibrations. For a simple and compact system of S-FF-OCT, we developed a polarization-channeled detection scheme of interference based on a Linnik interferometer and a commercial polarization c

Optical coherence tomography angiography findings in patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a common otological condition; however, its pathophysiology and prognostic factors remain unclear. We aimed to investigate the relationship between retinal microvascular changes and the severity and prognosis of SSNHL using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), exploring the role of ocular microcirculation. A prospective cohort study was conducted on 88 patients with SSNHL between December 2019 and December 2022. All patients underwent OCTA on the affected side to assess retinal vasculature. Parameters analyzed included vessel density (VD

Stent Graft Restenosis: Insights From Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging and Treatment Considerations.

Endovascular therapy (EVT) utilizing self-expanding stent grafts has shown promising clinical outcomes for femoropopliteal lesions. However, restenosis and thrombotic occlusion remain significant concerns with unclear underlying mechanisms. This is the case of a 53-year-old male with diabetic nephropathy requiring hemodialysis. He presented with left lower limb intermittent claudication and underwent EVT, resulting in subsequent restenosis 12 months post-implantation and recurrence of symptoms. Intravascular imaging revealed neointimal proliferation and stent-edge restenosis, with segments of

Optical coherence tomography angiography of the retina and choroid in systemic diseases.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) has transformed ocular vascular imaging, revealing microvascular changes linked to various systemic diseases. This review explores its applications in diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. While OCTA provides a valuable window into the body's microvasculature, interpreting the findings can be complex. Additionally, challenges exist due to the relative non-specificity of its findings where changes observed in OCTA might not be unique to a specific disease, variations between OCTA machines, the lack of a s

Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT) 3D Observation of PreserFlo MicroShunt.

A 74-year-old Japanese woman with a history of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in both eyes underwent PreserFlo MicroShunt (PFM) (Osaka, Japan: Santen Pharmaceutical, Co., Ltd.) implantation two years prior. Despite slit-lamp examination and standard anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) evaluations, the detailed condition of the stents was unclear. By using raster scanning and three-dimensional (3D) AS-OCT imaging, stent deformation and displacement were clearly identified, including a C-shaped deformation in the right eye. This type of deformation has rarely been reported
