Migration of an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) to the urinary bladder is very rare. We describe a case in which transabdominal sonography demonstrated such migration of an IUD in a 30-year-old woman who sought treatment for pelvic pain and dysuria. The IUD had originally been inserted 10 years earlier, and the patient had given birth without complications 2 years before the onset of her symptoms. Cytoscopic examination confirmed the diagnosis and allowed removal of the IUD.

OBJECTIVE: To assess our experience in the treatment and clinical outcome of bladder nephrogenic adenoma (NA) updating and reviewing the literature concerning this issue.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: From September 1976 to June 1999, bladder NA was diagnosed in 8 patients: 6 men and 2 women with a 3:1 male ratio, aged 26-80 (mean 58.3) years. Follow-up ranged from 4 to 194 (mean 93.5) months.

125 patients with tuberculous and posttuberculous cystitis were examined using cytological test of the aspirate from the bladder for atypical cells and histological investigation of the biopsy. Cancer of the bladder has developed in long-term chronic tuberculous or posttuberculous cystitis in 4% of the cases. The best objective method of the diagnosis was histological examination of the biopsy obtained from cancer-suspected sites of the bladder mucosa.

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS: The accuracy of transurethral bladder catheter pressure in reflecting intra-abdominal pressure is well defined in experimental studies and case reports but not in controlled clinical trials.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We compared bladder pressure with insufflator pressure during laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 40 patients. Measurements were made at four pressure levels of the insufflator: 0, 5, 10 and 15 mmHg.
