Indications of enucleation for uveal tumors were systematic in the past. They should become more adapted actually. Anterior limited uveal tumors, as in our two personal observations, should be an indication to realize a preservative treatment of the eye; the authors recommend the "block-excision" method, which allows: first, the ablation of the whole tumor and consequently the best possible prognosis, then, an anatomopathologic study which confirms the clinical diagnosis and avoids performing excessive enucleation in case of benign tumors as adenoma.

The hydraulic conductivity (Lp) of the rabbit ciliary epithelium has been measured under various conditions. Of the ionic changes in the bathing medium imposed upon the tissue, replacement of sodium and either depletion of bicarbonate or deletion of potassium all caused an increase in Lp. Chloride replacement had no effect on Lp. Unidirectional Na+ and Cl- fluxes were measured across the isolated rabbit iris-ciliary body under short-circuited conditions. The effects of furosemide on the chloride-dependent short-circuit current across the toad ciliary epithelium were examined. Under control conditions, the short-circuit current obeyed Michaelis-Menten kinetics against medium chloride concentration, the Michaelis constant (Km) for chloride being 90 mM and the maximal short-circuit current (Vmax) 128 mu A/cm2. Furosemide added to the aqueous side of the epithelium rapidly reduced the short-circuit current; the effect was reversible. The effect of furosemide addition to the stromal side was much smaller and slower than that from the aqueous side.

Ciliary body metastasis in a case of lung cancer is very rare. Intraocular metastasis by any cancer most commonly involves choroid followed by iris and ciliary body. We present a case of a 71-year-old male with non-small cell lung cancer who was found to have an 18F-FDG avid right lung mass. Incidentally a focus of abnormal increased 18F-FDG uptake was noted in the region of ciliary body in the right eyeball. The findings were confirmed to be a metastatic lesion in ciliary body on Ultrasonography and MRI. Our case depicts this extremely rare occurrence corroborated by various modalities.

Physiological studies have shown that serotonin and 5-HT1A agonists can influence muscarinic function in the rabbit iris-ciliary body (ICB).
