INTRODUCTION: Cloacal malformation is a rare anomaly that remains a diagnostic challenge prenatally, despite the current advances in ultrasonography and MRI. This condition can in some, present with isolated ascites or with other findings, such as a pelvic cyst or upper urinary tract dilatation. In a minority, the ascites may be progressive, questioning the role of antenatal intervention.

We present the first complete genome sequence of an aviadenovirus Oriolus adenovirus (OrAdV) sequenced from the cloaca of a Oriolus chinensis (a passerine bird widely distributed in Asia), which was collected from an island off the east coast of China. We experimentally infected jungle crows (Corvus macrorhynchos), which are representative corvids in East Asia, with West Nile virus (WNV) to study their susceptibility toward WNV infection. Oocysts of an avian isolate of Cryptosporidium were used to inoculate 21 chicks orally and 7 chicks intratracheally to determine the tissue specificity of this organism. Oocysts were passed in the feces 4 to 5 days after inoculation. Oocysts (6.8 by 5.0 microns) were fully sporulated and they were passed for at least 17 days by infected chicks.
