Congenital infantile fibrosarcoma (CIF) is a rare soft-tissue tumor in the pediatric age group and seldom involves the gastrointestinal tract. A 2-day-old boy was transferred to our hospital with a pneumpoperitoneum. After emergency operation, we could find a solid mass wrapping around a sigmoid colon and performed a segmental resection of sigmoid colon including a mass. Histopathologic examination showed an infantile fibrosarcoma origining from the muscular layer of colon. The baby was discharged on the 17th hospital day and followed for 1 yr without recurrence.

We describe herein an extremely rare case of clear cell type ovarian carcinoma resulting in fistula formation into the colon and intestine. The patient was a 61-year-old woman in whom a large tumor with extravasation from the sigmoid colon was found by barium enema examination. The tumor was preoperatively diagnosed as left ovarian cancer by angiography which showed the tumor feeder arising from the left ovarian and uterine arteries.

We describe a 61 year-old caucasian male diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He was started on methylprednisolone pulses because of a severe flare of symmetric polyarthritis while he was on weekly intramuscular methotrexate and low-dose oral prednisone. The design of a population screening study, including endoscopic screening for polyps in the rectum and sigmoid colon, was tested in a defined population sample of 200 women and 200 men aged 50-59 years. The attendance rate was 81%. A simple bowel cleansing procedure performed immediately before the examination gave satisfactory conditions for endoscopic examination in 94% of attendants. Polyp prevalence was 35%. The present material and results represent the basis for further follow-up studies of risk factors for the development of cancer in the same group of individuals.
