Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is a chronic, bilateral, allergic conjunctivitis with episodes of acute exacerbations. Although VKC has a self-limiting course, chronic recurrent inflammation can cause long-term visual impairment due to corneal complications including shield ulcers, infectious keratitis, keratoconus, corneal opacities, and limbal stem cell deficiency. PURPOSE: To report a case of unilateral corneal hydrops associated with vernal conjunctivitis as a presenting sign of keratoconus.
METHOD: Case report. A 10-year-old girl with corneal hydrops of the left eye.
RESULT: Visual acuity in the affected eye was hand motions and slit-lamp examination revealed a left keratoconic, ectasis, edematous cornea with mild vernal conjunctivitis.
CONCLUSION: Hereditary and environmental factors may contribute to the etiology of keratoconus and corneal hydrops.

In 1989 in the authors' hospital four plasmaphereses were performed in a patient treated with steroids on account of severe atopic keratoconjunctivitis with suspicion of hyperimmunoglobulinaemia IgE. As a result of treatment of the basic disease the patient developed steroid glaucoma. The authors recommended as alternative treatment plasmapheresis in order to discontinue corticoid therapy. Three months after the fourth plasmapheresis the intraocular tension improved and is still within a normal range.

AIM: This study aimed to determine the causes of red eye disease among patients of Mazandaran-Northern Iran.
METHODS: This cross sectional study included 840 patients who referred to eye clinics with ocular complaints. A detailed history of patients was recorded and their eyes were examined. Then, pre designed checklists were completed by the researcher.
