Effectiveness and safety of theta burst stimulation for Parkinson's disease: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized parallel-group controlled trials.

BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor and non-motor impairments that are often incompletely controlled by pharmacological treatment. Theta burst stimulation (TBS), including transcranial and transspinal approaches, has emerged as a potential neuromodulation strategy for symptom management in PD. This updated systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of TBS for motor and non-motor outcomes in individuals with PD. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov wer

Analgesic efficacy of the ultrasound-guided pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block for ambulatory hip arthroscopy: a randomized controlled double-blind trial.

BACKGROUND: Hip arthroscopy is an increasingly common outpatient surgical procedure where postoperative pain can be severe. Peripheral nerve blocks have been evaluated for analgesia following hip arthroscopy; however, there is no consensus on an optimal technique that provides effective local anesthetic-based postoperative analgesia without motor blockade. We hypothesized that the pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block would provide effective motor-sparing analgesia following ambulatory hip arthroscopy. METHODS: We conducted a randomized placebo-controlled double-blind trial comparing an ultra

Dietitian-led intervention to manage constipation in Parkinson's disease: Study protocol for a parallel-group randomized controlled trial (NUTRI-GUT-PD).

BACKGROUND: Constipation is a frequent non-motor symptom in Parkinson's Disease (PD). Standard care includes dietary and lifestyle guidance or the use of laxatives. Diet represents a promising non-pharmacological approach, but its management in PD is complex and goes beyond simple dietary recommendations. This study protocol aims to examine whether nutritional counseling delivered by a dietitian is more effective than usual care in reducing constipation symptoms in PD patients. METHODS: This 90-day randomized controlled superiority trial uses a parallel-group design. A total of 54 outpatients

H2O2-driven dual-functional modification of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharides: Molecular weight reduction and oxidative group engineering for multidimensional bioactivity control.

High molecular weight and inert functional groups limit the biomedical utility of natural polysaccharides, such as Tremella fuciformis polysaccharides (TFPs). In this study, we describe a H2O2-driven, one-step method for the concurrent oxidation and degradation of TFPs, which reduces the molecular weight from 1079.6 to 4.6 kDa while introducing aldehyde (0 %-0.99 %) and carboxyl (1.22 %-9.80 %) groups. By altering the H2O2 concentration, we obtained oxidized TFPs (OTFPs) with defined properties, namely OTFP-1 (13.5 kDa, 0.36 % aldehyde) exhibiting low cytotoxicity (73 % viability at 15 mg/mL);

Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial of Regulating Together (RT), a group therapy for emotion dysregulation in school-age autistic youth and their caregivers.

BACKGROUND: Emotion dysregulation is a common concern in autistic youth. Growing evidence suggests emotion dysregulation underlies multiple co-occurring issues in autism, including externalizing (e.g., aggression, irritability) and internalizing (e.g., anxiety, depression) disorders, and thus may serve as a key transdiagnostic treatment target. Emotion dysregulation during middle childhood (8-12 years) is concurrently and longitudinally associated with social difficulties and poorer quality of life for autistic individuals, highlighting a key window for intervention. There is an urgent need fo
