UNLABELLED: <p>Introduction: Non-ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors with a gastrointestinal mixed phenotype (mixed-type NADETs) have not been thoroughly analyzed. We aimed to elucidate the clinicopathological and endoscopic characteristics of mixed-type NADETs.

OBJECTIVES: Duodenal neuroendocrine tumors are increasingly identified incidentally during screening endoscopy. While surgical resection is standard, the role of endoscopic resection, particularly for grade 1 and 2 tumors, remains under discussion. Renal cell carcinoma is known to have blood-borne metastasis. This is usually to the bone, lungs and brain. It is rare for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to have gastrointestinal metastasis. We report on a 67-year-old man with HCC who was first treated with liver transplantation and then received transcatheter arterial embolization for recurrence in the right hepatic lobe. He underwent whole-body FDG PET/CT imaging for survey, and a FDG-avid lesion was localized in the duodenum. Endoscopic examination revealed an ulcerative tumor in the first portion of the duodenum. Histologic examination determined metastatic HCC.

Bile leak is a well-known complication of cholecystectomy. Endoscopic drainage and decompression of the biliary system including temporary insertion of a biliary stent is generally considered the treatment of choice. We report the successful obliteration of a bile leak using fibered platinum coils placed under fluoroscopic guidance after stent treatment had failed.

The prevalence of peptic ulcer disease in the general population of Kashmir, India, was determined by endoscopy in a randomly selected sample population of 2763 adults aged 15 years and above who were interviewed using a questionnaire. Of 239 persons with ulcer symptoms, 193 (80.7%) had an oesophagogastroduodenoscopy. A randomly selected 177 individuals from among the remaining population without ulcer symptoms, were also endoscoped.
