Bladder herpes is a very uncommon event related to herpes simplex virus infection. We report a 69-year-old man with 4-year history of bladder cancer who presented with dysuria and urinary frequency. Cystoscopy showed erythematous lesion of the bladder mucosa that was biopsied and revealed multilobed nuclei with eosinophilic intranuclear inclusions, and presence of intracytoplasmic vacuoles that were suggestive of bladder involvement by herpes simplex virus. Different bladder disorders have been associated with herpes virus, but spontaneous resolution generally occurs in 1-2 months.

Subcapsral prostatectomy was performed in a 75-year-old male, with the diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Total prostate volume was 105 ml by transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) and the excised prostate weighed in 90 g. After the surgery, he recovered from urinary disturbance once, but, he again complained of severe dysuria 12 days after the surgery. With the aim of non-invasive examination, we performed TRUS at voiding. Urethral stricture was definitely diagnosed using TRUS during micturition. Thus voiding TRUS was very effective in diagnosing urethral stricture.

From April 2000 to July 2001, clinical and wet-mount examination were performed on 2,450 women attending gynecologic department, El-Keish Polyclinic, Benghazi City. The mean age was 34+/-7 (in years). 328 (13.4%) women were clinically diagnosed as having viginatis. Sterile vaginal swab of the posterior fornix was stained by Giemsa and examined as wet smear for trichomoniasis infection. 29/2450, (1.2%) had T. vaginalis. The infected women suffered vaginalis discharge (93.10%), burning (81.48%), vulvar pruritus (79.39%), dyspareuria (40.47%), dysuria (21.43%) and strawberry appearance (75.86%).

A 58-year-old man presented with profuse diarrhea, abdominal distention, flatulence, weakness, and a 15-lb weight loss. The initial symptoms of nausea and vomiting had begun a week earlier, within hours of eating chicken that had not been well wrapped when purchased. Two days after symptom onset, he received intravenous rehydration therapy at another hospital. With resolution of the nausea and vomiting, he felt slightly better and went home against medical advice. He had not had fever, chills, hematochezia, melena, hematemesis, or dysuria.

Cystic dilatation of Cowper's gland ducts (Cowper's syringocele) is uncommon in pediatric age. Cowper's syringocele frequently are asymptomatic, sometimes may cause dysuria, pollakiuria and obstructive voiding symptoms. We report ten children with syringocele. Five were observed for recurrent urinary infections, three for obstructive voiding symptoms and two for post-traumatic hematuria and for urinary incontinence. Erosive vulvovaginal lichen planus is a severe form of Lichen planus (LP) that can result in chronic scarring if not treated. It can cause narrowing of the introitus, resulting in pain, itch, dyspareunia, dysuria, and recurrent urinary tract infections caused by retention of urine. Therefore, an effective and safer therapeutic approach is required. An 8-year-old boy presented with dysuria and acute retention of urine. Rectal examination showed a hard mass arising from the prostate. CT scan of the pelvis confirmed the presence of a large prostatic tumor causing bladder outflow obstruction. A provisional diagnosis of pelvic sarcoma was initially made. Biopsy of the tumor mass however, revealed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of T-cell type. The tumor showed very good response to chemotherapy and the urinary obstruction significantly improved with a week after starting therapy.
