INTRODUCTION: "Subureteric Teflon INGection" (STING) of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE/polytef) paste to treat vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in children was popularised in 1984. It was later abandoned as an implantation material because of the possibility of migration from the injection site. PATIENT CONCERNS: A case of a 35-year-old male, who complaining a diffuse abdominal pain beginning three days earlier. He also complained of occasional vomiting, nonspecific abdominal pain, and an unintentional 15 kg weight loss during the past 2 years. CASE: Five years ago, a 12-year-old patient underwent linear lens extraction, posterior capsulotomy, and anterior vitrectomy due to traumatic cataract and received a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) biconvex posterior chamber IOL implanted in ciliary sulcus. Four permanent ventricular endocardial pacemaker electrodes which could not be removed via their insertion site have been retrieved via the femoral vein using a Dormier basket. Apart from short-lived ventricular arrhythmias no complications occurred in any case. Where removal of an otherwise unaccessible ventricular pacemaker electrode is considered essential the use of a Dormier basket percutaneously appears to be effective and more acceptable than surgical removal.

PURPOSE: To report a case of delayed extrusion of primary ganciclovir implants in a patient with immune recovery vitritis syndrome.
