The definition of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) was modified and simplified in the new WHO-Soft Tissue and Bone Tumor Classification published in 2002. We reviewed the clinical courses of 7 patients with MFH of the retroperitoneum treated in our hospital from 1985 to 2005 and reexamined their pathological diagnoses according to the new classification. A rare case of advanced pleomorphic leiomyosarcoma of forearm with axillary lymph node metastasis in a young adult, diagnosed with the aid of immunohistochemistry and electron microscopic examinations together with a review of the literature are reported. The primary tumor involved the extensor and flexor aspect of forearm without bone involvement and metastasized to the axillary lymph nodes. Patient showed poor treatment outcome with adjuvant chemoradiotherapy following incomplete surgery.

Our study was carried out to define the efficacy of treatment with sequential chemotherapy lines in patients with epithelioid sarcoma (ES) at referral centres for sarcoma.
