UNLABELLED: Patient reported outcomes (PRO) have an established role when reporting treatment outcomes. This data is usually collected using patient self-completed questionnaires. There are numerous questionnaires available and selecting the most appropriate one can be difficult.
AIM: The aim of this article was to carry out a systematic review of the literature to identify publications using patient self-completed questionnaires suitable for oral and maxillofacial surgery. The questionnaires were collated and grouped according to sub-speciality interests.

Oro-facial trauma is common and forms a large component of any maxillofacial service workload. Even minor trauma can result in significant oro-facial and dental injury. This report reinforces the importance of a careful dental history and thorough examination, particularly when teeth remain missing after initial inspection. Other anatomical sites should be considered to ensure they do not contain traumatically displaced teeth. These two case reports show the late presentation of incisor teeth in the nasal cavity following dentoalveolar trauma.

Radiation-induced oral mucositis is an oral mucosal injury caused by radiation ionizing radiation, which often manifests as oral mucosal congestion, erosion, and ulcers. Radiation-induced oral mucositis manifesting as vascular proliferative changes in the oral mucosa has not been reported. We report a case of oral mucosal atypical vascular proliferation after radiotherapy for a malignant maxillofacial tumor. We discussed the mechanism and treatment of aty-pical vascular proliferation in the oral mucosa secondary to radiotherapy, including diagnosis, treatment, and previous literature.

Despite seat belt and alcohol legislation, craniofacial trauma still remains a common health problem and significant workload in many maxillofacial units. Although management has evolved considerably from "wiring teeth together", complex fractures can still result in cosmetic and functional deformity. Today's challenge is to consistently restore patients back to their pre-injury form and function-but this is not always possible.
