Reinforcement Learning-driven Diffusion Models: Language, Vision, and Beyond.

Diffusion models (DMs) have steadily demonstrated outstanding performance in high-fidelity, controllable generation across diverse scenarios, following the "pretraining-finetuning" paradigm established in LLMs. Despite these advances, conventional DMs still face critical limitations in sophisticated reasoning, autonomous exploration of generation pathways, and adaptability to complex, human-aligned objectives. Inspired by RLHF's success in LLMs, RL has recently emerged as a pivotal post-training mechanism to iteratively refine DMs through reward-driven trajectory optimization. This paper prese

Structure-Aware Attention Prototype Network for Cross-Modality Few-Shot Brain Tumor Segmentation.

Multi-modal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a crucial role in brain tumor diagnosis. However, the substantial physiological sensitivity discrepancies across imaging modalities create a severe domain gap that challenges current cross-modality segmentation methods. Many unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) approaches reduce this gap through image style translation or distribution alignment, which have shown promising results but may struggle to preserve modality-specific anatomical and pathological information. In contrast, few-shot segmentation (FSS) provides a promising alternative para

VistaDreamer: Zero-shot Single-view Scene Reconstruction by Multi-view Consistency Sampling.

In this paper, we propose VistaDreamer, a novel framework to reconstruct a 3D scene from a single-view image. Recent diffusion models enable generating high-quality novel-view images from a single-view input image. However, maintaining consistency across generated novel views remains challenging, often leading to noisy or distorted 3D reconstructions. VistaDreamer addresses this problem by a two-stage pipeline. In the first stage, VistaDreamer builds a global coarse 3D scaffold by zooming out a little step with inpainted boundaries and an estimated depth map. Then, on this global scaffold, ite

DAAN: Mitigating Information Asymmetries for Point-Supervised Video Moment Retrieval.

Video Moment Retrieval (VMR), the task of identifying a specific moment in an untrimmed video from a natural language query, is a key capability for advanced video understanding. As an emerging research direction, point-supervised VMR offers a cost-effective solution by requiring minimal annotation efforts. In this paper, we explore the information asymmetries within this task: a semantic-positional asymmetry between the clarity of the visual cues and the imprecision of the annotated frame's position, and an instance-duration asymmetry between the certainty of a moment's occurrence and the amb

Balancing Gradient Frequencies Facilitates Inductive Inference in Algorithmic Reasoning.

Inductive inference, or extrapolation of general rules from finite instances, is understood to be the foundation of human intelligence. Unfortunately, Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) struggle with inductive inference and thus fail to learn even the simplest algorithms in Algorithmic Reasoning (AR). Existing research efforts on AR with DNNs are limited to those on the architectural design for DNNs. In this study, we investigate the influence of optimization techniques on AR performance. Through toy experiments designed to understand an optimizer's susceptibility to non-generalizing solutions in AR,

VideoVista: Benchmarking Diverse and Complex Video-Language Interaction for MLLMs.

Multimodal AI's video comprehension reflects real-world dynamic understanding, but mainstream Video-Language Interaction (Video QA) benchmarks are primarily English-centric, narrow-domain, and only test basic perceptual or reasoning skills, lacking holistic assessment of model performance across diverse languages, domains, and complex spatiotemporal scenarios. To address these gaps, we present VideoVista, a versatile multilingual and multidomain video comprehension benchmark, built via scalable, quality-controlled automatic QA generation and manual refinement. Evaluations on 41 leading MLLMs r

Discovering Visual Co-occurrence for Fine-grained Image Retrieval.

Recent fine-grained image retrieval work predominantly focuses on learning diverse visual patterns from training set and further improving the generalization capability when confronted with unseen categories. However, such a design under-exploits the compositional structure of fine-grained objects, leading to rare semantics being easily overwhelmed by more universal ones, such as large-range bird feathers, and even overlooked. Consequently, it fails to identify unknown subcategories characterized by these rare semantics, thereby decreasing retrieval performance. As a remedy, we propose a novel

Prototype Matters: Domain-Wise Prototype Induction for Zero-Shot Recognition.

Zero-Shot Learning (ZSL) has achieved remarkable progress, yet most existing methods still rely heavily on predefined semantic embeddings as supervisory signals. Such semantics are often incomplete, inaccurate, and insufficiently discriminative, resulting in ambiguous decision boundaries and limited generalization to unseen domains. In practice, predefined semantics frequently conflict with diverse instance-level visual patterns, making it extremely challenging for models to both separate classes and decode rich attribute variations under limited parameterization. Furthermore, substantial disc

Reverberation: Learning the Latencies Before Forecasting Trajectories.

Bridging the past to the future, connecting agents both spatially and temporally, lies at the core of the trajectory prediction task. Despite great efforts, it remains challenging to explicitly learn and predict latencies, i.e., response intervals or temporal delays with which agents respond to various trajectory changing events and adjust their future paths, whether on their own or interactively. Different agents may exhibit distinct latency preferences for noticing, processing, and reacting to a specific trajectory-changing event. The lack of consideration of such latencies may undermine the

Delving Deep Into Unraveling Spatio-Temporal Forgery Cues for Face Forgery Video Detection.

Face Forgery Video Detection is a critical yet challenging task in determining whether a digital facial video is authentic or forged. Existing methods often rely on isolated spatial or coarsely fused spatio-temporal features, which are insufficient to mine spatio-temporal forgery cues and lead to unsatisfactory generalization performance. To this end, we strive to unravel general spatio-temporal forgery cues across three progressive levels: (1) spatial regional suspicions, (2) temporal momentary anomalies and gradual inconsistencies, and (3) spatio-temporal cumulative distortions. Accordingly,

Causal Effect Estimation Under Networked Interference Without Networked Unconfoundedness Assumption.

Estimating causal effects under networked interference from observational data is a crucial yet challenging problem. Most existing methods mainly rely on the networked unconfoundedness assumption, which guarantees the identification of networked effects. However, this assumption is often violated due to the latent confounders inherent in observational data, thereby hindering the identification of networked effects. To address this issue, we leverage the rich interaction patterns between units in networks, which provide valuable information for recovering these latent confounders. Building on t

Physics-Informed Dataset Distillation.

Dataset Distillation (DD) compresses a large real dataset into a substantially smaller synthetic set for training purposes while preserving the essential semantic information. Distribution-matching DD methods empirically design statistical alignment losses to optimize the synthetic set, aiming to preserve the crucial representativeness and diversity of the real dataset. However, relying solely on statistical information is difficult to truly reflect representativeness and diversity, making it impossible to obtain such exquisite synthetic sets. To address this limitation, motivated by free ener

Continual Action Quality Assessment via Adaptive Manifold-Aligned Graph Regularization.

Action Quality Assessment (AQA) quantifies human actions in videos, supporting applications in sports scoring, rehabilitation, and skill evaluation. A major challenge lies in the non-stationary nature of quality distributions in real-world scenarios, which limits the generalization of conventional methods. We introduce Continual AQA (CAQA), which equips AQA with Continual Learning (CL) capabilities to handle evolving distributions while mitigating catastrophic forgetting. Although parameter-efficient fine-tuning of pretrained models has shown promise in CL for image classification, we find it

A Survey on Archetypal Analysis.

Archetypal analysis (AA) was originally proposed in 1994 by Adele Cutler and Leo Breiman as a computational procedure for extracting distinct aspects, so-called archetypes, from observations, with each observational record approximated as a mixture (i.e., convex combination) of these archetypes. AA thereby provides straightforward, interpretable, and explainable representations for feature extraction and dimensionality reduction, facilitating the understanding of the structure of high-dimensional data and enabling wide applications across the sciences. However, AA also faces challenges, partic

MotionRFT: Unified Reinforcement Fine-Tuning for Text-to-Motion Generation.

Text-to-motion generation has advanced with diffusion- and flow-based generative models, yet supervised pre-training remains insufficient to align models with high-level objectives such as semantic consistency, realism, and human preference. Existing post-training methods have key limitations: they (1) target a specific motion representation, such as joints, (2) optimize a particular aspect, such as text-motion alignment, and may compromise other factors; and (3) incur substantial computational overhead, data dependence, and coarse-grained optimization. We present a reinforcement fine-tuning f

MaskGaussian++: Probabilistic Masks for General 3D Gaussian Representation.

While 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has demonstrated remarkable performance in novel view synthesis and realtime rendering, the high memory consumption due to the use of millions of Gaussians limits its practicality. To mitigate this issue, improvements have been made by pruning unnecessary Gaussians, either through a hand-crafted criterion or by using learned masks. However, these methods deterministically remove Gaussians based on a snapshot of the pruning moment, leading to sub-optimized reconstruction performance from a long-term perspective. To address this issue, we introduce MaskGaussian

Quickest Causal Change Point Detection by Adaptive Intervention.

We consider the sequential change point detection problem in linear causal graphs that explicitly incorporates interventions. In such graphs, changes can propagate through the graph structure to multiple nodes. Under a single-change setting, we introduce a centralization technique that characterizes how the change propagated across nodes can be concentrated into a single dimension. For an edge change, we further show that appropriately selecting the intervention node can amplify the magnitude of the change, thereby improving detection performance. Accordingly, we develop an algorithm for setti
