The case report dissertates upon successful treatment of iatrogenic perforation of distal oesophagus with subcutaneous emphysema, pneumoperitoneum and pneumomediastinum. The endoclips and classic conservative treatment were used in therapy. The patient was treated 3 hours after the injury, no early or late complications related to perforation were noted.

We describe a young child presenting with vomiting and altered neurological status. An incidental finding of pneumoperitoneum on abdominal X-ray led to laparotomy and the discovery of a duodenal perforation. We describe the difficulties in making the diagnosis of duodenal perforation in children and some of the factors that led to the delay in diagnosis in this case.

A 54 year old female with a history of pneumothorax, COPD GOLD IV and emphysema visits the ED with acute onset of dyspnea and right thoracic pain. Chest X-ray shows recurrent pneumothorax and, surprisingly, suggestion of subdiaphragmatic air. Follow-up CT confirms pneumothorax with additional pneumoperitoneum due to a diaphragm defect.

There is a high mortality rate in neonates with spontaneous rupture of the stomach. Clinical manifestations are vomiting, abdominal distension, respiratory distress and shock. An upright X-ray film showing a pneumoperitoneum is diagnostic. Successful treatment depends on early recognition of the condition and immediate surgical intervention. An infrequent case of puncture of Meckel's diverticulum whose aetiopathogenesis was attributed to a segmentary intestinal dyskinetic phenomenon is reported. The pneumoperitoneum consequent on the puncture was not associated with peritonitis and histology showed that the diverticulum did not show either inflammatory phenomena or areas of ectopic mucosa, namely none of the causes which are usually at the origin of Meckel's diverticulum puncture.

We describe a unique complication of laparoscopic liver biopsy. The increased intra-abdominal pressure associated with carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum produced haemodynamic stability by tamponading a trochar-induced retroperitoneal haemorrhage. After deflation of the abdomen, release of the tamponade resulted in acute cardiovascular collapse. Other complications associated with laparoscopic surgery are also discussed.

We report a case of acute abdomen in a patient previously diagnosed of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The pneumoperitoneum on the chest x-ray demanded urgent operative intervention. Laparotomy revealed two diverticula perforations in the small bowel. Perforation in the colon is common; however only two cases of small bowel perforation have been reported so far.
