Preoperative predictive indicators for resolution of hypertension in patients with unilateral primary aldosteronism: development of a nomogram model.

BACKGROUND: Primary aldosteronism (PA) is the leading surgically treatable cause of hypertension, with adrenalectomy as the definitive treatment for unilateral PA (UPA). However, some patients have persistent hypertension after surgery. This study aims to identify preoperative factors affecting surgical outcomes and develop a predictive model for postoperative hypertension resolution. METHODS: We reviewed and analyzed the medical records of 206 patients who underwent unilateral adrenalectomy for UPA at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University (2011-2022). As a training cohort, the data of the 166

Preoperative resting-state microstate as a marker for chronic pain after breast cancer surgery.

INTRODUCTION: Chronic postoperative pain poses challenges, emphasizing the importance of accurately predicting pain in advance. Generally, pain perception is associated with the temporal dynamics of the brain, which can be represented by microstates. Specifically, microstates are transient and patterned brain topographies formed by temporally overlapping and spatially synchronized oscillatory activities. Consequently, by characterizing brain activity, microstates offer valuable insights into pain perception. METHODS: In this prospective study, 66 female patients undergoing breast cancer surge

Accuracy and clinical value of an adhesion scoring system: A preoperative diagnostic method using transvaginal ultrasonography for endometriotic adhesion.

AIM: To investigate the accuracy and clinical value of an adhesion scoring system using transvaginal ultrasonography for endometriotic adhesion. METHODS: In this prospective observational study, we included 131 patients with endometriosis who underwent surgery. Before surgery, transvaginal ultrasonography and adhesion mapping were performed to determine the presence or absence of adhesions at 10 sites of the pelvis. Mapping accuracy was determined by comparing the mapping findings with the surgical findings. To determine the severity of pelvic adhesions, we developed an adhesion score (0-10).

Pre-emptive rituximab and plasma exchange does not prevent disease recurrence following living donor renal transplantation in high-risk idiopathic SRNS.

BACKGROUND: Children with non-genetic steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) are at high risk of disease recurrence (DR) and graft loss following renal transplant (RT). Although pre-emptive plasma exchange (PE) and rituximab have been suggested to prevent DR, there is insufficient published data to support this practice. The aim is to study the role of pre-emptive PE and rituximab in the prevention of DR in children with non-genetic SRNS undergoing living donor (LD) RT. METHODS: Prospective single-centre study of four consecutive children (age 6-17 years) with non-genetic SRNS (including
