BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Small aortic annulus is conventionally associated with poor outcome after aortic valve replacement (AVR). Contrarily, several patients have excellent follow-up results after AVR with 19, 20 or 21 size Medtronic Hall (MH) or Sorin Carbocast (SC) prostheses. Silicone-induced granuloma is a well-known, but rare delayed complication of implantation of silicone breast prostheses and consists of a foreign body reaction with encapsulation of free silicone, most often due to implant rupture with silicone leakage. We present a case report of a patient with a silicone-induced granuloma. On a PET/CT silicone-induced granuloma can mimic disseminated cancer.

The main objective of facial allografts is functional. On this account, oral rehabilitation is pivotal. Two types of cases are possible. Firstly, the indication of facial allograft concerns only the soft tissues. If so, dental care is similar to the one of patients with an organ transplant. PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to assess the pattern of permanent teeth present in a self-selected sample of 17 female and 35 male patients with ectodermal dysplasia presenting for treatment with dental implants.
METHODS: Mean age of sample: 18.7 years, age range: 5.9 to 60.9 years. Panoramic radiographs were examined independently by two investigators to determine the permanent teeth present. None of the sample reported extractions of permanent teeth prior to presenting for implants.

CASE REPORT: Bilateral electric stimulation from 2 sequentially placed auditory brainstem implants was applied in a 27-year-old man with neurofibromatosis type 2.
CONCLUSIONS: Results of the present case support further application of bilateral electric stimulation from auditory brainstem implants for patients with neurofibromatosis type 2.

Nurses in cardiovascular critical care settings routinely care for patients with implanted valvular prostheses. The presence of an artificial valve substitutes a new disease state for the preexisting valvular disease.
