BACKGROUND: Precocious puberty (PP) currently affects 1 in 5000 children and is 10 times more common in girls. Existing studies have tried to detect an association between phathalic acid esters (PAEs) and PP, but the results did not reach a consensus.

BACKGROUND: Precocious puberty treatment traditionally meant anxiety-provoking monthly depot injections until the advent of the annually implanted histrelin capsule. This study is the first to evaluate the surgical and anesthetic aspects of histrelin implantation for precocious puberty.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship of plasma ghrelin and adenohypophyseal hormone levels in female precocious puberty.
METHODS: A total of 84 patients aged from 6 to 9 years were enrolled in this study. We report a child with Down's syndrome in whom metrorrhagia and precocious puberty revealed primary autoimmune hypothyroidism. The patient had a decreased growth velocity, exaggerated weight gain, bone age delay, and bilaterally enlarged multicystic ovaries. AIMS: (1) To assess the value of cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans in the investigation of girls with central precocious puberty (CPP); and (2) to determine the clinical predictors of abnormal cranial MRI scans in these patients.

OBJECTIVE: We undertook a 1-year multicenter trial of tamoxifen treatment for precocious puberty in girls with McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS).
STUDY DESIGN: Girls < or =10 years with classic or atypical MAS were recruited. Pretreatment history was collected for 6 months. Patients received 20 mg tamoxifen daily. A 36-year-old woman presented with sudden abdominal pain and vomiting. Computed tomography showed a tumour of the right hepatic lobe with possible signs of acute haemorrhage. Her medical history revealed precocious puberty when she was a 5-year-old and the use of oral contraceptives for 18 years. Bisegmentectomy was performed and histological examination revealed hepatocellular carcinoma. The role of male and female sex hormones in the development of hepatic tumours has been well documented but, to our knowledge, association with precocious puberty has not yet been described.

INTRODUCTION: In 2020 in Poland a total of 3 589 people had pancreatic cancer (PC). Only 20% of patients were diagnosed with surgical disease.
