OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively investigate the effectiveness of sphenzygomatic suture as a guide in the reduction of zygomatic complex fracture.
METHODS: 55 cases of zygomatic complex fracture classified according to Zingg classification were treated, sphenozygomatic suture in group 1 (n = 36) was reduced first, then the other fracture line was reduced, in group 2 (n = 19), malar bone was reduced according to superficial fracture line. We report a case of left testicular torsion four months after a similar homolateral case in which we did detorsion and bilateral fixation of both testicles. The antecedent orchiopexy was accomplished using 3-0 silk and transseptal fixation of the contralateral testicle. A history of bilateral orchiopexy should nor interfere with diagnosing torsion in the acute scrotum. We recommend the use of nonabsorbable suture material joining the testis to the dartos muscle in 3 locations and the contralateral hemiscrotum must be explored.

The authors analyze their experience of 62 video-laparoscopic operations for perforating duodenal ulcer from January 1998 to May 1999. The optimal algorithm of the patients' preoperative examination and substantiation of the used technique are given. Basic steps and technical aspects of the operation are designated. Basic approaches to the postoperative anti-ulcerous treatment are specified. Basic indications and contraindications to video-laparoscopic-closure of duodenum opening in perforating ulcer are indicated.

A prospective study was done to determine the effectiveness of a suture anchor in doing a Modified Bankart Reconstruction on the traumatic unidirectional Bankart lesion shoulder. From 1989 to 1991, 26 patients encompassing 27 shoulders with recurrent instability had modified Bankart reconstructions. A minimum 18-month follow-up was obtained by examination of 24 patients with telephone interviews done on two patients. The average follow-up was 23.6 months.
