The study concerns 170 patients treated for duodenal ulcer by selective gastric vagotomy and either HM- or FP. A 5-year follow-up showed a 4% recurrence rate. Insulintest 2-3 months after surgery was Hollander negative in 78%, late positive in 17% and early positive in 5%. 72% of the tests were unchanged after 5 years. 25% had moderate severe dumping. The article presents the results of using the vagotomy of an acid-producing zone of a stomach by the method of chemical denervation. Subjects to the operation were 20 Wistar line male rats and 22 patients with perforating pyloroduodenal ulcers accompanied by cardio pathology. The simplicity, availability and low traumatism of the technique, in view of the low percent of a relapse of the pyloroduodenal ulcers, enable to recommend it for the treatment for the elderly patients with the heavy cardio pathology.

This experimental study was aimed at determining the volume and acidity produced by the normal stomach, following antral mucosectomy (MA), proximal selective vagotomy (VSP) and combination of both procedures. The incidence and character of gastrointestinal reflux after truncal vagotomy and gastric resection or drainage were studied prospectively in 42 symptomatic patients. Gastroesophageal reflux, proven by 24-hour pH monitoring, occurred in 31 patients. Initial symptoms of heartburn, regurgitation, or dysphagia were similar in patients with and without reflux.
