Neurologists frequently evaluate patients complaining of vision loss, especially when the patient has been examined by an ophthalmologist who has found no ocular disease. Objective of the study was to show the mean values of correction for near vision and to discuss the presbyopic correction in pseudophakic patients. Setting was the Eye department where authors work. Inclusion criteria for 55 patients were native or corrected distant vision of 0.8-1.0 on Snellen's chart; 0,6 on Jagger's chart for near vision; round pupil and good position of the implant. Functional defects of glaucomatous optic neuropathy are reviewed and summarized. Glaucomatous visual field defects are basically comprised of four major patterns: an isolated scotoma, an arcuate scotoma, a nasal step, and generalized depression. Glare disability and contrast sensitivity loss can be present in cataract patients with minimally reduced visual acuity. Objective and subjective visual function was analyzed in 72 patients (mean visual acuity = 20/40) before and after cataract surgery. Following surgery, most subjects regained normal function in all tests. Improvement in contrast sensitivity and reduction of glare disability were independent of preoperative visual acuity. Subjective improvement in visual function was predicted by acuity and contrast sensitivity tests.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a relatively common chronic inflammatory disease with immune dysregulation. While eye manifestations of HS are rare, a dilemma arises when these patients seek treatment for refractive errors. Although excimer laser surgery can be safely performed in patients with autoimmune and immune-mediated inflammatory disease, there are caveats.
