By using flow cytometry with markers for CD3, CD4, CD26, and CD7, we examined the blood samples of 109 patients for abnormal T cells: 69 patients with mycosis fungoides (MF)/Sézary syndrome (SS), 31 hospitalized control subjects, and 9 patients with inflammatory skin disease. T cells were identified as quantitatively abnormal (>15% CD26- or CD7- T cells) or phenotypically abnormal (CD26- or CD7- T cells with bright or dim CD3 or CD4 or bright CD7). SAMP1/YitFcs mice serve as a model of Crohn's disease, and we have used them to assess gastritis. Gastritis was compared in SAMP1/YitFcs, AKR, and C57BL/6 mice by histology, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Gastric acid secretion was measured in ligated stomachs, while anti-parietal cell antibodies were assayed by immunofluorescence and enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot assay. SAMP1/YitFcs mice display a corpus-dominant, chronic gastritis with multifocal aggregates of mononuclear cells consisting of T and B lymphocytes. Relatively few aggregates were observed elsewhere in the stomach.

OBJECTIVE: To study the levels of CD4+CD25+CD127- and CD3+CD4-CD8- regulatory T (Treg) cells in peripheral blood of children with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
METHODS: The flow cytometry was used to detect the expression of CD4+CD25+CD127- and CD3+CD4-CD8- Treg cells in peripheral blood of 33 children with ITP and 21 healthy children.
RESULTS: The expression levels of CD4+CD25+CD127-［(2.7±1.7)% vs (4.8±1.6)%; P<0.01］and CD3+CD4-CD8-［(5.2±3.1)% vs (8.1±3.5)%; P<0.01］Treg cells in children with ITP were significantly lower than in the controls.

OBJECTIVES: Expansion of CTG repeats in myotonic dystrophy (DM1) alters the regulated expression of numerous genes. It is considered to explain the major clinical features of DM1. Cytotoxic T lymphocytes are involved in controlling intracellular pathogens in many species, including horses. Particularly, CTL are critical for the control of equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV), a lentivirus that infects horses world-wide. GDVII and DA strains of Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) differ in VP2 puff B. One week after GDVII virus infection, SJL/J mice had large numbers of TUNEL+ apoptotic cells with a relative lack of T cell infiltration in the brain.
