BACKGROUND: The gibel carp is a fish species with dual reproduction modes, gynogenesis and sexual reproduction, coexisting in mixed diploid-polyploid populations. Following the Red Queen (RQ) assumption, asexual organisms are, due to their low genetic diversity, targets for parasite adaptation. Because MHC polymorphism is maintained by selection from parasites and sexual selection, MHC genes are considered as a suitable candidate for testing the RQ hypothesis. OBJECTIVES: Autoimmune disorders (ADs) frequently coexist with inflammatory bowel disease. The aim of the study was to determine whether coexisting AD in patients with ileal pouches increases the risk for chronic antibiotic-refractory pouchitis (CARP) and other inflammatory conditions of the pouch.
METHODS: A total of 622 patients seen in our Pouchitis Clinic were enrolled. We compared the prevalence of adverse outcomes of the pouch (including CARP, Crohn's disease of the pouch, and pouch failure) in patients with or without concurrent AD and assessed the factors for these adverse outcomes.

Total cholesterol content in 24 fillets (F) of males and females of common carp, 35 samples of male chicken breast meat (BM) and thigh meat (TM), and 48 samples of male turkey BM and TM, respectively, was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography after total lipid (TL) extraction using n-hexane/2-propanol mixture. BACKGROUND: (Auto)immune mediated and cholestatic liver disease (AILD) includes autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). This study evaluated the effects of dietary corn husk meal (CHM) on growth, digestive enzyme activity, intestinal morphology, immune- and antioxidant-related gene expression, and ammonia-stress tolerance in biofloc-cultured koi carp.
