We report a case of elderly metastatic breast cancer with a complete response to the treatment with XC (X: capecitabine and C: cyclophosphamide). A 78-year-old woman, who presented with left breast cancer, underwent pectoralis-preserving mastectomy when she was 76 years old. A 55-year-old woman underwent a partial breast resection in our hospital for breast cancer in May 2002. For adjuvant therapy, she received cyclophosphamide, pirarubicin and 5-FU infusion a total of 6 times, and anastrozole. Then, in May of 2004, an abnormal shadow was detected on her of chest X-ray. After CT scan we diagnosed multiple pulmonary metastasis of breast cancer. We used combination therapy of docetaxel 60 mg/m(2) and cyclophosphamide 500 mg/m(2). After 9 months, pulmonary metastasis disappeared on her CT scan. During chemotherapy, she showed no major side effect.

In the treatment of recurrent breast cancer in patients previously treated with anthracycline drugs, taxane drugs are generally used. This time, we retrospectively studied the safety of docetaxel/cyclophosphamide combination therapy (hereinafter referred to as TC therapy). Effects of oral administration of sugar cane extract (SCE) on immunosuppression in chickens treated with cyclophosphamide (CPA) were evaluated. We report an unusual case of a leiomyosarcoma of the urinary bladder after chemotherapy for retinoblastoma and the results of a review of the published reports of bladder sarcomas. A 22-year-old man presented with hematuria and was found to have a mass in his urinary bladder on computed tomography. Transurethral resection of the mass revealed a leiomyosarcoma. Antineoplastic cyclophosphamide (CY) significantly reduced the survival and the weight of Hymenolepis microstoma in mice. Corticosteroid dexamethasone (DEX), on the other hand, did not influence the worm survival and the worms in DEX-treated mice became significantly heavier. Both immunosuppressants abolished H. microstoma-induced bile duct hypertrophy and submucous enteritis and lowered the number of mast cells (MC) in these regions. CY appeared to be more effective in depleting the bile duct MC whereas DEX seemed to affect more the duodenal MC population.

Twenty-eight consecutive adult patients with locally advanced (inoperable) or metastatic soft tissue sarcomas were treated with a chemotherapy regimen (CADOM) including cyclophosphamide, ADR, and DTIC on Day 1 of each course, and vincristine with intermediate-dose methotrexate (200 mg/m2) on Day 15 followed by leucovorin rescue.
