We examined six patients with retinal vasculopathies (two cases each of angiomatosis retinae [von Hippel-Lindau disease], exudative vitreoretinopathy, and Coats' disease), who developed preretinal and vitreal membranes, retinal traction detachment, and exudation under the retina. A case of congenital chylothorax presented as polyhydramnios and massive fetal edema. The diagnosis was suspected prior to delivery on the basis of ultrasonography. Ultrasound was helpful in localizing the fluid for postnatal thoracentesis. Congenital chylothorax is part of the differential diagnosis of nonimmune hydrops fetalis.

Based on repetitive tympanometric screenings of infants and 2-year-old children, the spontaneous improvement of secretory otitis has been studied. A case of massive choroidal detachment during cataract extraction is described. Some thoughts about the pathophysiology of expulsive detachment in this case are discussed (Fuchs' heterochromy cyclitis and high blood pressure). By flow microfluorometry the DNA distribution curve of the cell nuclei of 39 adnex tumors, mainly ovarian carcinomas, was measured. 47% of the malignant tumor cell populations were diploid, the other ones were heteroploid (i.e. polyploid, tetraploid, aneuploid stem lines). Heteroploid tumors had the worse prognosis. In 8 cases effusions were analysed (7 ascites, 1 pleura). It is possible to diagnose a malignant tumor from effussion fluid by impulse cytophotometry. But in one case a great difference was found between the primary tumor and the ascites fluid, which only shows the DNA distribution
