With the proper instruments, the minimal incision approach to osteotomies of the lesser metatarsals has many advantages. Less trauma, less disability, no need for internal fixation, and generally, less discomfort for the patient are some of them.

Onychomycosis is regarded as one of the most common and least concerned fungal problems. Although various treatment approaches have been well-established, still treatment strategies suffer from certain drawbacks, so there is a need to discuss novel therapies that could ultimately eliminate all the conventional barriers. It is a nail infection that begins in the toenail and spreads, causing significant negative impacts on patients' quality of life. The purpose of this work was to highlight the limitations of conventional treatments and shed light on novel therapies for managing onychomycosis. A

BACKGROUND: Increased detection of fungi including non-dermatophyte molds (NDMs) using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods is well-established. However, the use of PCR to evaluate ongoing onychomycosis treatment outcome has not been investigated.
METHODS: Nail samples from 28 patients receiving topical efinaconazole were evaluated by both KOH/culture and PCR methods across the study period. Detection of microorganisms by PCR was compared to the culture at baseline and end of study at month 24 (M24). Fungal detection by both methods was evaluated with respect to clinical cure observed as 1

BACKGROUND: Onychomycosis is the most common nail disease seen in clinical practice. Inclusion of diverse groups in onychomycosis clinical trials subjects is necessary to generalise efficacy data.
OBJECTIVES: We aimed to systematically review race and ethnicity reporting and representation, as well as, treatment outcomes in onychomycosis clinical trials.
METHODS: A PubMed search for onychomycosis clinical trials was performed in August 2020. Primary clinical trial data were included and post hoc analyses were excluded. Categorical variables were compared using chi-squared and Fisher's exact

Onychomycosis is a common disorder that is difficult to cure. Prevalence is lower in children (0.7%), but athletes are 2.5-fold more likely to develop the disease, with infections of the toenails seven times more prevalent than those of the fingernails. This is a concern for athletes as it can interfere with their performance. The risk of developing onychomycosis is increased by the warm environment of many sports activities; the use of occlusive footwear; the warm, moist environment associated with socks and sweating; shared, close quarters among athletes; and trauma to the foot and toenail.
