BACKGROUND In glaucoma, the cup to plate ratio enlargement is a recognized pathological phenomenon. At present, the research on optic nerve in China and abroad mainly focuses on 2-dimensional research, and the measurement of 3-dimensional volume data is less well studied. Therefore, the recognition of 3-dimensional morphological changes is conducive to timely clinical intervention to prevent or slow down progressive vision loss. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this paper, optical coherence tomography (OCT) volume imaging technology was used to analyze and compare the morphological changes of primary a

BACKGROUND: Lymphoma with intraocular metastasis is an uncommon and serious disease. We describe a case of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with iris metastasis. Meanwhile, we refer to published case reports retrieved via a PubMed search to summarize this rare disease.
CASE PRESENTATION: Glaucoma and uveitis symptoms were found in the left eye of a 50-year-old woman upon admission to the hospital. After treatment and pathological examination, the iris of her left eye was diagnosed with DLBCL. Given the patient's unfavorable treatment options in the local hospital, primary enucleation was

BACKGROUND: The rs1401999 gene in ABCC5 gene was the first locus confirmed by a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to be associated with both anterior chamber depth (ACD) and primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG); however, this locus was of obvious heterogeneity among different populations in the GWAS, and the conclusion has not been further verified by other studies. Therefore, this study was carried out to investigate whether the single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in ABCC5 gene are associated with PACG and the ocular biometric parameters ACD and axial length (AL) in samples from northe

For the past 12 years peripheral iridectomy has been used as the initial surgical procedure after an acute attack of angle-closure glaucoma. The operation has been performed 2 to 5 days after the pressure has been controlled medically and has been followed routinely by prophylactic peripheral iridectomy in the fellow eye. Peripheral iridectomy for primary acute angle-closure glaucoma controlled the condition without any need for further medical or surgical therapy in 72% of cases. Careful and frequent follow-up within the first 4 postoperative months is essential to prevent further field loss,

BACKGROUND: Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation and goniosynechialysis (PEI + GSL) represents a mainstream surgical techniquefor the treatment of primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). As the disease progresses, when the extent of peripheral anterior synechiae (PAS) gradually expands to 360°, whether PEI + GSL remains effective remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the long-term clinical efficacyof PEI + GSL in treating PACG patients with 360° PAS.
METHODS: A case‒control study was conducted on PACG patients with 360° PAS (360° PAS group) and those

RATIONALE: Angle closure glaucoma (ACG) is one of the most emergent types of glaucoma in clinical practice. Laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) could minimize pupillary block and prevent ACG from an acute attack. However, recurrent increase in intraocular pressure (IOP) may still occur despite successful LPI. The aim of this study is to highlight the importance of postLPI pilocarpine use and larger LPI size as well as to share some experiences of cataract surgery in patients with ACG.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 63-year-old female was referred to our hospital for headache, and poor control of IOP in the
