We report a case of granulocytic sarcoma presented as a recurrent breast tumor in a 42-year-old woman with no history of leukemia. The case was initially diagnosed as malignant lymphoma on a previous biopsy specimen and she refused chemotherapy. At the time of recurrence of the breast tumor, the patient showed full-blown features of leukemia. This case of rare tumor suggests that differential diagnosis should be considered when malignant lymphoma of the breast is detected.

A rare case of granulocytic sarcoma of orbit preceding the onset of acute meyloblastic leukaemia is presented. A 7-year-old boy presented with proptosis and no other systemic complaints. The appearance of an enlarged muscle in initial tomographic imaging with a normal peripheral blood picture caused a diagnostic problem. Biopsy suggested a diagnosis of granulocytic sarcoma. Subsequent bone marrow study revealed the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia.

Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) is a rare extramedullary tumor composed of myeloblasts and other granulocytic precursors. GS is mostly associated with myeloproliferative disorders, myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukaemia. These tumors arise in the absence of leukaemia, at its initial diagnosis or at the time of recurrence. The most common sites of involvement are bone, skin, soft tissue and lymph node. In 95 patients with abnormal vaginal and cervical secreta (49 pregnant women and 46 non-pregnant women), the relation between intravaginal flora and intravaginal granulocyte elastase (Elastase) and pH was investigated. We report a 7-year-old girl with extensive toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) and neutropenia who was successfully treated using recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor. Our patient had extensive epidermal loss and neutropenia, both indicators of a poor prognosis, but none the less made a rapid and complete recovery.

Drug induced agranulocytosis (DIA) is a potentially lethal disorder characterized by selective neutropenia. Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) has been utilized for its treatment. We report four cases of DIA treated with GM-CSF at the dose of 5 micrograms/kg/day. The patients presented infectious diseases at diagnosis. Median days to obtain 1 x 10(9)/L neutrophils and a normal neutrophil count (NNC), were 7(5-9) and 7.5 (6-10) days, respectively. The infectious disease at diagnosis improved and all patients are alive at the moment of this report. No other adverse effects
