Giant cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) in elderly people is difficult to treat. Herein, we report a case of 96-year-old male who was diagnosed to have giant facial invasive SCC (4cm*4.5cm*2 cm). He was successfully treated with plum-blossom needle assisted photodynamic therapy (PDT) sequential with imiquimod. BACKGROUND: Syphilitic alopecia is not common in patients with secondary syphilis. Though the clinical and histopathological findings of syphilitic alopecia have been described, the trichoscopy features are unknown yet.
MAIN OBSERVATION: A 42-year-old Chinese man was admitted to our clinic with a complaint of hair loss. The patient presented clinically with moth-eaten alopecia over the whole scalp without any previous discomfort or skin rashes. The serology for syphilis was positive. In a series of 21 patients with aganglionosis there were five with associated anomalies (24%). These included trisomy 21, Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome type II, persistent Müllerian duct syndrome, supernumerary digits and segmental hypopigmentation. This high incidence may be due to sample bias, but clinicians are encouraged to carefully follow their aganglionic patients as there may be under-reporting of associated anomalies.
