In this article, we report the case of a 40-year-old woman with a sessile polyp of the rectosigmoid junction that underwent endoscopic resection. The resected specimen showed spindle cell proliferation with eosinophilic cytoplasm between mucosal crypts, mimicking mucosal prolapse syndrome. The rectal "inflammatory cloacogenic polyp" is a recognized pathologic entity in adulthood. We report three cases in children aged between 8 and 12 years. This disorder should be included in the differential diagnosis in patients with hematochezia and tenesmus. These polyps are usually located at the anorectal junction and so may be overlooked at colonoscopy unless an endoscopic retroflexion maneuver is performed.

BACKGROUND: Although the American Cancer Society and others have established guidelines for colorectal cancer screening, questions of who and how to screen still exist.
METHODS: A 60-cm flexible sigmoidoscopy was performed on 1000 asymptomatic patients, 45 years of age or older, with negative fecal occult blood tests, who presented for routine physical examinations. Patients with clinically significant lesions were referred for colonoscopy. The proportion of lesions that would not have been found if the 24-cm rigid or the 30-cm flexible sigmoidoscope had been used was identified.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Endoscopic resection is now the standard of care for the management of colorectal polyps. With increased training and expertise in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), it is important to recognize their complementary roles, as well as their individual strengths and limitations.

BACKGROUND: To decrease the risk of bleeding or perforation, ischemic polypectomy is performed using a detachable snare or endoclip with double-balloon endoscopy (DBE) for small-bowel polyps in patients with Peutz - Jeghers syndrome. Anal fibroepithelial polyp is a benign tumor rarely reported during pregnancy. We here report a case of giant anal fibroepithelial polyp in a 31-year old multiparous woman.
