Praziquantel is the mainstay of treatment of Schistosomiasis, which affects at least 262 million people worldwide. It is also used in the treatment of other trematode as well as cestode infections, with few safe and effective alternatives. It is generally well tolerated and allergic reactions are rare. In this report, we present a case of schistosomiasis with a history of a hypersensitivity reaction to praziquantel. AIM: To evaluate the irritative potential of three dental bleaching agents (hydrogen oxide, carbopol, and carbamide peroxide).
METHODS: In rats, Evans blue (2.5%, 1 mL.L-1) was injected i.v. and later each test solution was injected intradermally on the back. After the concentration of the dye in the stained skin area was determined by spectrophotometric analysis.
RESULTS: All the dental bleaching agents caused increase of vascular permeability and the intensity varied with the time.
CONCLUSION: Dental bleach agents had a great potential for irritating soft tissues.

An incidental case of Mycobacterium bovis was confirmed in a cynomolgus macaque from a shipment of 100 animals imported to the University of Southwestern Louisiana New Iberia Research Center from the Philippines. The macaque was euthanized 4 weeks into the quarantine period (October 1997) for failure to thrive and suspected melioidosis. A modified technique was employed with tolu … nsitization confirmed by application test 91.7 percent were positive in BDT, of those with positive intradermal tests, 66.7 percent were BDT-positive, this being probably explained by individual sensitivity of the patients. The prophylaxis of typhoid fever in Romania is usually achieved with fluid heat-killed phenolized vaccine. However the shelf life of this vaccine is only two years. The long term storage of an intradermal typhoid vaccine is made possible by lyophilization. A heat-inactivated bacterial suspension with a high concentration of organisms, at least 25 X 10(9) cells per ml, was freeze-dried at a temperature not higher than 30 degrees C. Gliadin sub-fractions have been tested by intradermal injection in 19 adult patients with coeliac disease in remission and in 19 healthy adult controls.
