This study aimed to analyze the effects of fibrin constructs enhanced with laminin-nidogen, implanted in the wounded rat soft palate. BACKGROUND & AIMS: Hyperaminoacidemia stimulates myofibrillar fractional synthesis rate (myoFSR) transiently in resting skeletal muscle. We investigated whether light-load resistance exercise can extent this responsiveness.
METHODS: Ten healthy males exercised one leg with a light-load resistance-like exercise at 16% of 1 repetition maximum and received oral protein boluses every hour for a 10-h period. Their myoFSR was determined by [1-(13)C]-leucine incorporation. Muscle biopsies were obtained from the resting (REST) and exercised (EXC) muscles every 2.5-h in the protein-fed period.

Anti-gliadin and anti-endomysium antibodies were analyzed in 174 children with suspected or verified coeliac disease with the aim of developing a practical routine. The biopsy was performed without knowledge of the antibody levels. To assess the pathogenetic importance of capillary damage and its relationship with degenerating muscle fibers in dermatomyositis (DM), an electron microscope study of eight muscle biopsy specimens (adult and juvenile forms) and seven muscle specimens from patients with other neuromuscular diseases was conducted.
