A mixed studies systematic review of the unmet treatment, support, and information needs of cancer survivors in managing menopause symptoms.

INTRODUCTION: Menopausal symptoms are common after cancer treatment, with wide-ranging impacts on cancer survivors' daily living. While evidence shows that cancer survivors have menopause-related needs, these have not been synthesised. This systematic review aims to identify cancer survivors' unmet needs in managing menopausal symptoms. METHOD: The study was registered with the Prospective Register for Systematic Reviews (CRD42024464668). We searched four databases (MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, CINAHL) for original qualitative or quantitative research published in English between 2013 and 2025,

Comprehensive portrait of the needs of caregivers of individuals living with a traumatic brain injury: a systematic mixed-methods review.

BACKGROUND: Caring for an individual living with traumatic brain injury may place physical and emotional demands on caregivers, yet evidence on their specific needs remains fragmented. Synthesising this evidence is therefore essential to address this gap and to inform the development of targeted support strategies. The aim of this study was to appraise and synthesise the evidence the needs of caregivers of individuals living with moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury. METHODS: A mixed-methods systematic review was conducted in 2024 across MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL and Web of Science (PROS

Identifying and addressing the needs of caregivers of patients with cancer: evidence on interventions and the role of patient advocacy groups.

As the number of people with cancer increases, so does the number of informal caregivers. These caregivers frequently have multiple unmet needs and experience numerous burdens. Here we explore the crucial roles of these caregivers and categorize their unmet needs into four areas: information, relationship and communication, emotional support, and practical or financial needs. We provide evidence on emerging interventions aimed at supporting caregivers, including patient/caregiver assessments, education, collaborative care, financial assistance, wellness, informational programs, and an integrat

Prison - no place for older people.

Prisons and probation ombudsman Nigel Newcomen has called for a national strategy to address the healthcare needs of older people in prison. His report should be welcomed - it focuses attention on a group of people who are all too easily overlooked in our society. The bad news is, the report is a depressing read. Prisons designed for young men are struggling to cope with people in their seventies and eighties who may have dementia or need palliative care.

Acute Pain Medicine in the United States: A Status Report.

BACKGROUND: Consensus indicates that a comprehensive, multimodal, holistic approach is foundational to the practice of acute pain medicine (APM),but lack of uniform, evidence-based clinical pathways leads to undesirable variability throughout U. S. healthcare systems. Acute pain studies are inconsistently synthesized to guide educational programs. Advanced practice techniques involving regional anesthesia assume the presence of a physician-led, multidisciplinary acute pain service, which is often unavailable or inconsistently applied. This heterogeneity of educational and organizational standards

A risk-need-responsivity (RNR)-informed systematic review of needs during the pretrial period.

OBJECTIVE: Pretrial risk assessments are becoming increasingly popular in the United States. Despite the importance of assessing and intervening around "needs" in the risk-need-responsivity model, few pretrial risk assessments include comprehensive assessment of needs. We aim to provide a systematic review of the prevalence of and predictive utility of needs within the pretrial population. HYPOTHESES: There were no hypotheses given the nature of the study. METHOD: We conducted searches for articles in the EBSCO, ProQuest, and Google Scholar databases using key words related to 11 needs domai

[The need for rehabilitation services: concept and data].

Whether rehabilitation services are initiated, applied for and (granted by German statutory pension funds) according to objectifyable need is uncertain as long as we lack a scientifically valid and operationally defined concept of "rehabilitation need". Traditionally three criteria are mentioned: neediness, ability, and prognosis. The text extends and specifies these criteria based on theoretical grounds, research evidence, and sociolegal considerations. It introduces a screening algorithm to objectify and assess individual rehabilitation needs focusing, as far as they are risk factors for par

Identifying people requiring special care dentistry: A scoping review.

AIMS: This scoping review aimed to document tools designed to identify persons requiring special care dentistry (SCD) and to provide a better understanding of the factors that justify adaptation in the provision of care. METHODS: A scoping review methodology was applied. An electronic search was performed in April 2021 using Pubmed and Embase. Additional tools were sought using hand searches and informal professional networking. RESULTS: Ten tools were identified that either predict the complexity of dental management or that retrospectively judge the complexity of care, of which two are as

Assessment and the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology's Evidence Base Updates Series: Evaluating the Tools for Gathering Evidence.

In 2014, Michael Southam-Gerow and Mitch Prinstein launched the Evidence Base Updates series. As invited contributors, authors of Evidence Base Updates articles offer the field an invaluable resource: regular evaluations of the latest data on tools for addressing the mental health needs of children and adolescents. Until now, authors of Evidence Base Updates articles have focused exclusively on evaluating treatment techniques. In this article, we outline how the Evidence Base Updates series will evolve to also include evaluations of assessment techniques. In our treatment-focused updates, cont

Measurement tools for assessment of older age bipolar disorder: A systematic review of the recent global literature.

OBJECTIVES: More than 50% of people with bipolar disorder will be age 60 years or older by 2030. There is a need for more data to guide assessment and treatment in older age bipolar disorder (OABD); however, interpretation of findings from small, single-site studies may not be generalizable and there are few large trials. As a step in the direction of coordinated large-scale OABD data collection, it is critical to identify which measurements are currently used and identify potential gaps in domains typically assessed. METHODS: An international group of OABD experts performed a systematic lite

A network approach to addressing the needs of patients with incurable head and neck cancer and their families.

BACKGROUND: Patients with incurable head and neck cancer have considerable unmet needs and complex symptom burden, with evidence of substantial geographical and/or socioeconomic inequalities. Accurate information on healthcare needs, resource utilisation and service provision in the last year of life is lacking. This places limits on service delivery planning and the development and testing of interventions to better meet needs. Our partnership spans three regions, which nationally have some of the highest rates of incurable head and neck cancer. AIMS: The overall aims were to (1) establish a
