The benefit of intravitreal bevacizumab injection in the long-standing idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy is described. Intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg of bevacizumab was given to a patient, who complained of reduced vision for 10 months due to idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy. Within a week, his visual acuity improved from 20/80 to 20/25; 3 months later, the visual acuity reached 20/20 with complete resolution of the serous retinal detachment, as was demonstrated by optical coherence tomography. No recurrences or complications were found for a period of 6 months.

A 31-year-old white patient was referred with a recent history of decreased visual acuity in his left eye. A raised, greyish-white lesion close to the optic nerve was the only ophthalmological finding. Upon systemic work-up a chest X-ray revealed enlarged pulmonary lymph nodes. A biopsy obtained during bronchoscopy led to the diagnosis of sarcoidosis. No other manifestation was noted. Following systemic steroid treatment the lesion regressed and visual acuity improved. Granulomatous inflammatory diseases have to be ruled out in cases of prominent greyish-white fundus lesions.

A 78-year-old woman underwent recession-resection surgery for longstanding exotropia. A scleral perforation occurred at the time of surgery and was treated with transscleral retinocryopexy. Three days after surgery the patient experienced light perception vision, pain, and hypopyon. She underwent a trans pars plana vitrectomy with intravitreal and periocular antibiotics. BACKGROUND: Streptococcus suis is a major porcine pathogen that can cause severe systemic infection in humans. The common clinical features include meningitis, septicemia, purulent arthritis, and oftentimes deafness. However, ocular inflammation is very rare.
METHODS: We report the case of endogenous endophthalmitis, meningitis, and septicemia caused by S. suis. The patient received 2 months of systemic antibiotics therapy, intravitreal vancomycin, and vitrectomy combining phacoemulsification with intraocular lens without silicone oil-filled.

PURPOSE: Evaluate the ZEBRA 2000 (Z-10) bifocal contact lens on presbyopic and aphakic patients.
METHODS: Thirty-eight patients, 37 presbyopes and one aphake, were fit in the Z-10 and evaluated for 6 months.
RESULTS: Twenty patients (53%) completed 6 months of contact lens wear.
