Personality disturbances are increasingly being defined in terms of person-environment transactions. Puzzling individual behavior may take on fresh significance when viewed within a broader system of forces (Andrews 1966, 1974; Carson 1969; Coyne 1976; Watzlawick et al. 1967). Psychotherapy, in particular, can usefully be viewed as a dyadic system in which both parties endeavor to define the relationship. This study explores the relationship between male sexual behavior and personality factors, as measured by the MMPI and Sensation Seeking Scale. Subjects were 20 male volunteers, ages 19-58, with a history of long-term sexual relationships. Subjects kept a daily record of sexual behaviors. Frequency of these behaviors was correlated with MMPI and Sensation Seeking (SSS) subscales. The authors mark the following peculiarities of the fixated set in schizophrenia: inertness (in a continuous course); a lability (in acute manifestations of psychoses and in a recurrent course); a variability (in cases of child and adolescent schizophrenia). In terminal cases and in cases of apathic-aboulic syndrome the excitibility level is considerably lowered. The results of a study with the aid of TAT (Murray's Thematic Apperception Test and Rorschach's tests) also depend upon the age of the patients, the form and type of development and the stage of the disease.
