A retrospective clinical study was conducted in 267 children referred to the Verona University Institute of Paediatrics over the period from … s (44 cases), gastritis and duodenitis (73 cases) and peptic ulcer (8 cases). Among the drugs used, ranitidine proved highly effective, producing healing in all cases reporting for follow-up, and showed excellent tolerability.

We assessed the effects of ranitidine and cimetidine (histamine H2-receptor antagonists) on the serum concentrations of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in 22 patients with end-stage chronic renal failure. Treatment for 3 months induced a significant decrease in serum concentrations of PTH determined by radioimmunoassay directed at the mid portion of the PTH molecule. METHODS: 320 duodenal ulcer outpatients have been enrolled in three open, prospective controlled trials. Hp infection was confirmed by Giemsa stain and Rut. Two cases of adult respiratory distress syndrome due to diffuse pulmonary haemorrhage are reported. Contact sensitivity to drugs administered systemically occurs mainly among healthcare workers, pharmaceutical operatives, and veterinary surgeons. Of the 14,689 patients suspected of contact allergy examined in our department from 1978 to 2001, occupational allergic contact dermatitis from drugs in healthcare workers was diagnosed in 33, the first in 1980. Bidens pilosa var. radiata Schult. Bip. is used in folk medicine to treat stomach disorders including peptic ulcers. The ethanolic extract (0.5-2 g/kg) decreased the gastric juice volume, acid secretion, as well as pepsin secretion in pylorus ligated rats. B. pilosa extract showed antiulcer activity against indomethacin-induced gastric lesions.
