The purpose of this study was to measure whether emmetropisation failed in children who had strabismus irrespective of their refraction in infancy, and to record simultaneous changes in anisometropia. We also report how often hypermetropia increased before these children presented with esotropia. We report a case of successful argon laser synechiolysis as a non-invasive alternative for peripheral anterior synechiae release after trabeculectomy in a young patient with steroid-induced ocular hypertension. Steroid-induced ocular hypertension is a known complication of vernal keratoconjunctivitis due to prolonged treatment with steroids. In refractive conditions, augmented trabeculectomy becomes the surgery of choice in these patients. In this article, we report successful treatment of iris tissue plugging the internal ostium with an argon laser and reinstatement of aqueous flow.

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, India is recording a very high number of new cases daily; even as the country prepares to gradually "unlock", after months of lockdown. While elective eye surgeries such as uncomplicated cataract surgeries, blepharoplasty and eyelid procedures and refractive surgeries can be planned at a later date; emergency cases pertaining to ocular trauma cannot be deferred. This manuscript gives a brief overview of the general guidelines for the management of ocular trauma during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PURPOSE: To determine the pattern of pediatric ocular morbidities in western India.
METHODS: This was a retrospective longitudinal study that included all consecutive children aged ≤15 years who presented to the outpatient department of a tertiary eye center for the first time. Patient demographics, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and ocular examination data were compiled. Subgroup analysis was also performed based on age group (years): ≤5, 5-10, and >10-15.

Optical defocus influences postnatal ocular development in animal models. Induced negative lens defocus results in accelerated ocular elongation and myopia. Positive lens-induced defocus findings across animal models have been inconsistent. Specifically, in the tree shrew, positive lens-induced defocus has produced equivocal results. This study evaluated the response of the tree shrew to induced positive lens defocus. One treatment group wore positive lenses binocularly, which were increased in power sequentially from +2 to +4, +6, +8, and +9.5 D over 8 weeks. Other groups wore +4, +6, and +9.

METHODS: A 49-year-old man sustained laceration of the flap and interface foreign body debris from construction material in the right eye 7 years after uneventful LASIK (case 1). A 33-year-old man had partial dislocation of the flap 4 years after LASIK in the left eye (case 2) due to a penetrating wood chip accident.
