BACKGROUND: Pott's disease (PD) is an uncommon extra-pulmonary form of tuberculosis. Dissimilar data about location, diagnosis and treatment from various hospitals and different countries are reported.
PATIENTS AND METHOD: We present our experience with Pott's disease at our institution between January 1993 to December 1999, retrospectively, based on clinical bacteriological and pathological research. We assessed the impact of the updated guidelines on tuberculin skin test interpretation in the North East of England. Data on 241 children screened for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) between January 2011 and July 2018 were analyzed; 12.4% of children screened under the previous guidelines were treated for LTBI, compared to 33.3% under the new ones ( P < 0.001).

Female genital tuberculosis (FGTB) is extremely rare in post-menopausal women. A 59-year-old woman developed vaginal tuberculosis one year after receiving a kidney transplant from a living donor. Her complaints included abdominal pain, fever, and weight loss. Furthermore, her tuberculin skin test was negative. She was successfully treated with quadruple anti-TB therapy for 6 months.

Tuberculosis is still an important problem in developing countries. A total of 3,774 students from primary schools in Edirne, Turkey were included in this study in order to determine the annual infection risk for the year 1994. Five tuberculin units of purified protein derivative were applied using a Mantoux test and evaluated. The mean induration diameter was 14.6 mm. The value of chest radiograph in the management of asymptomatic tuberculin positive (> 10mm) individuals is controversial. We reviewed the results from two centers in Beirut: The Employment Health Program at Makassed General Hospital (MGH) in 1984 and the Visa Applicants Program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUB-MC) 1990-1991. METHODS: Two tuberculin skin tests (TSTs) were carried out within 2 years in a sample of 371 health care workers (HCWs) at a general hospital in Santiago de Cuba Province, along with an interview to explore the association of LTBI with age, sex, occupation, contact history of TB and bacille Calmette-Guérin scar. 1888 school children aged between 7 and 17 years, living in 13 villages in two districts of North Lebanon, were skin tested with four new tuberculins as the initial step in a study of BCG vaccination.
