Sex differences in clinical profile, left ventricular remodeling and cardiovascular outcomes among diabetic patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction: a cardiac-MRI-based study.

BACKGROUND: Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is associated with a high rate of mortality and morbidity. Evidence has shown that sex differences may be an important contributor to phenotypic heterogeneity in patients with HFrEF. Although diabetes mellitus (DM) frequently coexists with HFrEF and results in a worse prognosis, there remains a need to identify sex-related differences in the characteristics and outcomes of this population. In this study, we aimed to investigate the between-sex differences in clinical profile, left ventricular (LV) remodeling, and cardiovascular r

BmooMPα-I, a Metalloproteinase Isolated from Bothrops moojeni Venom, Reduces Blood Pressure, Reverses Left Ventricular Remodeling and Improves Cardiac Electrical Conduction in Rats with Renovascular Hypertension.

BmooMPα-I has kininogenase activity, cleaving kininogen releasing bradykinin and can hydrolyze angiotensin I at post-proline and aspartic acid positions, generating an inactive peptide. We evaluated the antihypertensive activity of BmooMPα-I in a model of two-kidney, one-clip (2K1C). Wistar rats were divided into groups: Sham, who underwent sham surgery, and 2K1C, who suffered stenosis of the right renal artery. In the second week of hypertension, we started treatment (Vehicle, BmooMPα-I and Losartan) for two weeks. We performed an electrocardiogram and blood and heart collection in the fourth

IRAK3 gene silencing prevents cardiac rupture and ventricular remodeling through negative regulation of the NF-κB signaling pathway in a mouse model of acute myocardial infarction.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Cardiac rupture and ventricular remodeling are recognized as the severe complications and major risk factors of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This study aims to evaluate the regulatory roles of interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 3 (IRAK3) and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway in cardiac rupture and ventricular remodeling. Microarray analysis was performed to screen AMI-related differentially expressed genes and IRAK3 was identified. The models of AMI were established in male C57BL/6 mice to investigate the functional role of IRAK3. Afterwards, lentivirus recombinant plasmi…

Different left ventricular remodelling patterns and clinical outcomes between non-ischaemic and ischaemic aetiologies in heart failure patients receiving sacubitril/valsartan treatment.

AIMS: Although the beneficial effect of sacubitril/valsartan (SAC/VAL) compared to enalapril was consistent across ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) and non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) groups, the PARADIGM-HF study did not analyse the effect of ventricular remodelling on patients with different aetiologies, which may affect clinical treatment outcomes. This study aimed to compare left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) following SAC/VAL treatment and its association with clinical outcomes. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 1576 patients were analysed. Patients were grouped by LVEF changes fo

Left ventricular reverse remodelling predicts long-term outcomes in patients with functional mitral regurgitation undergoing MitraClip therapy: results from a multicentre registry.

AIMS: To explore whether left ventricular reverse remodelling (LVRR) is a predictor of outcomes in patients with functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) undergoing MitraClip procedure. METHODS AND RESULTS: We analysed 184 consecutive patients with FMR who underwent successful MitraClip procedure. LVRR was defined as a reduction in left ventricular end-systolic volume ≥ 10% from baseline to 6 months. LVRR was observed in 79 (42.9%) patients. Compared with non-LVRR, LVRR patients were more likely to be females, less likely to have an ischaemic aetiology of mitral regurgitation or a prior (<6 mont

Cardiac remodelling amongst adults with various aetiologies of pulmonary arterial hypertension including Eisenmenger syndrome-implications on survival and the role of right ventricular transverse strain.

AIMS: Survival in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and Eisenmenger syndrome (ES) relates to right ventricular (RV) function. Little is known about differences of ventricular function between ES patients and those suffering from other PAH aetiologies. In this study, we compared global ventricular function assessed by speckle-tracking in adult patients with ES, other PAH aetiologies, or healthy controls; and assessed the relationship between ventricular function and survival. METHODS AND RESULTS: We performed a prospective cohort study recruiting 83 adult PAH patients (43 ES and 40 other P

Intracoronary infusion of bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells abrogates adverse left ventricular remodelling post-acute myocardial infarction: insights from the reinfusion of enriched progenitor cells and infarct remodelling in acute myocardial infarction (REPAIR-AMI) trial.

AIMS: Depressed left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) despite successful reperfusion therapy is the single most powerful predictor of progressive LV enlargement after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and independently determines adverse outcome in these patients. METHODS AND RESULTS: We investigated the effect of intracoronary administration of bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (BMC) within 7 days after successful reperfusion therapy for AMI, on early (within 4 months) LV remodelling processes assessed by quantitative LV angiography. Overall, 95 patients received BMC and 92 patients

Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein 2 Predicts Right Ventricular Reverse Remodeling and Improvement of Concomitant Tricuspid Regurgitation After Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Mitral Valve Repair.

BACKGROUND: Concomitant right ventricular (RV) failure and tricuspid regurgitation (TR) are common comorbidities in patients undergoing mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) and are associated with worse prognosis. Improvement of TR after M-TEER occurs frequently, however determinants of this course are poorly understood. This study aimed to analyze serum biomarkers that are differentially regulated in patients with TR and to identify biomarkers predictive of the course of TR after M-TEER. METHODS AND RESULTS: Biomarker expression was analyzed in 242 prospectively included p
