OBJECTIVE: According to the 2007-2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the prevalence of obesity in the US population was 33·8 %; 34·3 % and 38·2 %, respectively, in middle-aged men and women. We asked whether available blood donor data could be used for obesity surveillance.

Although ABO incompatibility between mother and fetus has long been suspected as cause of spontaneous abortion in man, its precise contribution has not been completely resolved. In spite of reports in which the incompatible mating was recognized to be a cause of habitual abortion, and which eventually results in infertility or a reduction in the number of living children compared with the number in compatible matings, such effects were not observed in other studies. The aim of this review article was to show some evidence of relationship between ABO incompatibility and spontaneous abortion.

AIM: To compare BP measurements of children and adolescents using different methods office BP (OBP), ambulatory BP monitoring (ABPM) and home BP measurement (HBPM) and to study their correlations.
METHOD: Individuals were evaluated between 5 and 15 years of age who had been referred because of a previous high BP. OBP was measured with the OMRON-705CP. Three measurements were carried out at 5-min intervals. HBPM were taken using the same device, two measurements at 5-min intervals in the morning and in the evening during 7 days. ABPM was performed using the SpaceLabs 90207 monitors.
