Efficacy and safety of 3 mg pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor as support to chemotherapy for lung cancer.

BACKGROUND: NCCN guidelines recommend a dose of 100 μg/kg or a fixed dose of 6 mg pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (PEG rhG-CSF) for chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. However, a single dose of 60 μg/kg or 100 μg/kg produced a similar neutrophil response among patients with chemotherapy-induced neutropenia (CIN). Thus, this prospective randomized study was designed to investigate the efficacy of 3 mg PEG rhG-CSF in preventing acute lower respiratory tract infection (ALRTI) after chemotherapy. METHODS: Patients with stage IIIB/IVA lung cancer who underwent chemo

Outcomes of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor use in pediatric kidney transplant recipients: A Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium study.

BACKGROUND: Neutropenia is common in the first year after pediatric kidney transplant and is associated with an increased risk of infection, allograft loss, and death. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) increases neutrophil production, but its use in pediatric solid organ transplant recipients remains largely undescribed. METHODS: We performed a multicenter retrospective cohort study of children with neutropenia within the first 180 days after kidney transplant. Multivariable linear regression and Poisson regression were used to assess duration of neutropenia and incidence of hospi

Antibiotic Prophylaxis or Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor Support in Multiple Myeloma Patients Undergoing Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation.

We compare, in this manuscript, antibiotic prophylaxis versus granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) support as anti-infective strategies, in patients with multiple myeloma (MM), undergoing high-dose therapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (HDT/ASCT). At our institution, antibiotic prophylaxis after HDT/ASCT in MM was stopped in January 2017 and replaced by G-CSF support in March 2017. Consecutive MM patients who received HDT/ASCT between March 2016 and July 2018 were included in this single-center retrospective analysis. In total, 298 patients and 353 individual cases

Effect of Systemic Administration of Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor on a Chronic Partial-Thickness Cartilage Defect in a Rabbit Knee Joint.

OBJECTIVE: Cartilage lesions in the knee joint can lead to joint mechanics changes and cause knee pain. Bone marrow stimulation (BMS) promotes cartilage regeneration by perforating the subchondral bone just below the injury and inducing bone marrow cells. This study aimed to investigate whether systemic administration of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) with BMS improves repair of chronic partial-thickness cartilage defects (PTCDs). DESIGN: Eighteen 6-month-old New Zealand white rabbits were divided into 3 groups: control (C, n = 6), BMS alone (n = 6), and BMS + G-CSF (n = 6). Pa

Effects of human recombinant granulocyte-colony stimulating factor treatment during in vitro culture on porcine pre-implantation embryos.

Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), a pleiotropic cytokine, belongs to the hematopoietic growth factor family. Recent studies have reported that G-CSF is a predictive biomarker of oocyte and embryo developmental competence in humans. The aim of our study was to determine whether CSF3 and its receptor (CSF3R) were expressed in porcine maternal reproductive tissues (oviduct and uterus), cumulus cells, and embryos and to investigate the effects of human recombinant G-CSF (hrG-CSF) supplementation during in vitro culture (IVC) on the developmental competence of pre-implantation embryos.

A Case of Steroid-Responsive, COVID-19 Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome Following the Use of Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor.

We present a case report of a 54-year-old male with metastasized nasopharyngeal carcinoma presenting to the hospital with dyspnea, anorexia and fever. Examination revealed chemotherapy-induced pancytopenia. The patient tested positive for SARSCoV-2, but respiratory complications were mild. The patient was treated with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) leading to amelioration of the neutropenia. However, severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) occurred, prompting the diagnosis of immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS). GCSF is currently investigated as addition

Short communication: Effect of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor on neonatal calf peripheral blood neutrophil function in vitro.

Neutrophils are innate immunity cells that represent the first line of cellular defense against invading pathogens. Dairy calves, however, experience neutrophil dysfunction during the first weeks of age, contributing to increased disease susceptibility during this period. Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is a cytokine that improves neutrophil function in neonates of other species and mature cows. However, its capability to improve neonatal calf neutrophil function is unknown. Therefore, our objective was to evaluate the effect of GM-CSF on the functional capabilities o

Production of transgenic cattle by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) with the human granulocyte colony-stimulation factor (hG-CSF).

The hG-CSF (human Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor) is a growth and stimulation factor capable of inducing the proliferation of bone marrow cells, several types of leukocytes, among other hematopoietic tissue cells. hG-CSF is used in used to treat anomalies that reder a small number of circulating white blood cells, which may compromise the immune defenses of the affected person. For these reasons, the production of hG-CSF in a bioreactor system using the mammary gland of genetic modified animals is a possibility of adding value to the bovine genetic material and reducing the costs of hG-

Immunological Heterogeneity of Healthy Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Donors-Effects of Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor on Inflammatory Responses.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) contributes to the development of immune-mediated complications after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. However, systemic IL-6 levels also increase during granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells in healthy donors, but it is not known whether this mobilization alters systemic levels of other IL-6 family cytokines/receptors and whether such effects differ between donors. We examined how G-CSF administration influenced C-reactive protein (CRP) levels (85 donors) and serum levels of IL-6 family cytokines/receptors (20 donors).

Novel antibody-cytokine fusion proteins featuring granulocyte-colony stimulating factor, interleukin-3 and interleukin-4 as payloads.

Neutrophils can strongly influence disease activity in cancer and in chronic inflammation. Here, we report for the first time the construction and characterization of antibody-fusion proteins featuring granulocyte-colony stimulating factor and interleukin-3 as payloads capable of enhancing neutrophil activity and a novel antibody-interleukin-4 fusion protein with neutrophil inhibitory potential. We used the F8 antibody specific to the alternatively-spliced extra domain A (EDA) of fibronectin as a targeting agent, since the cognate antigen is strongly upregulated in diseases characterized by an

Effect of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor on the cochlear nuclei after creation of a partial nerve lesion: an experimental study in rats.

OBJECTIVE The risk of injury of the cochlear nerve during angle (CPA) surgery is high. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) has been found in various experimental models of peripheral and CNS injury to have a neuroprotective effect by inhibiting apoptosis and inflammation. However, to the authors' knowledge, the influence of G-CSF on cochlear nerve regeneration has not been reported. This study investigated the neuroprotective effect of G-CSF after a partial cochlear nerve lesion in rats. METHODS A lesion of the right cochlear nerve in adult male Sprague-Dawley rats was created using
